Question Avoiding clickfraud by competitor on your site?

If I've understood correctly, then adsense doesn't allow for one person to click many times over on the same ad (for obvious reasons) or the adsense account risks getting banned.
If then a competitor with a similar website comes to your site and decides to click multiple times on your ads with the purpose of getting your adsense account banned. Is there any counter measures that could be taken to avoid something like this from happening?

    Thanks for your replies,
    JED

The only way you can work against is that you always check your stats and if you find anything suspicious then you let Google know about it.

    Thumbs up Thanks!

    TheLegendaryJP, that's a hilarious picture!

Tetrapak, thanks for the advice. It's always good to be proactive but do you know if Google could turn this around on you and ban you if you're contacting them about suspicious stats?

Copper, thanks for the link. That program seems exactly what I'm looking for. Have you used it yourself? Is there any risk of getting banned by Google if using that program?

I apologize for my many questions, I just want to understand everything correctly since it's such an important subject.

    Thanks again,
    Jonas

    Jonas,
Actually they have always been very nice when I reported something suspicious. They will definitely not ban you if you are contacting them about possible click fraud. I'm only reporting to them if I get "too many" clicks on my minisites (even more than visits), or if my CTR has at least tripled on a big traffic site.

    Agree.
Same happen to me many times.
You need to contact Google soon and they don't will ban you.

But take a look at your stats frequently and report to them any suspicious move.

    This is correct.
I contact them when I make questionable changes to my site asking if it's ok.
I contact them when I start advertisement to bring traffics to my site and asked if that is ok.

Sometime ago, many adsense accts were lost because of graphics were too close to adsense.
I had few such sites, but, I did not lose the acct although those sites were banned until I corrected the problems.

No, I had not used it myself. I think I should, though.
Why would Google ban you when you are trying to prevent click fraud?

Tetrapak, thanks again for the advice. I'll keep it in mind and make sure to contact Google if I see something suspicious on my sites stats.

Carter, thanks also for the advice, appreciate it.

Copper, thanks again for the advice and the info. It's good to know Google would let you correct a problem after a site's been banned and to have it unbanned.
Regarding the program to avoid clickfraid, I just thought that there would be a possibility that Google somehow wouldn't want their adsense code messed with by another program and could see it as suspicious activity. But it sounds like a good program and I will try it later on.

    Thanks again everybody!

Google has just recently banned one of my sites stating that I violated their TOS. However I didn't. After a few emails they apologized and are activating Adsense again on that specific website. Communication is everything, plus Google is making mistakes too..
