Question about Adsense Average CPC

Forgive me if this is a really basic question. For some keywords the Average CPC is $8. Yet when the ad is clicked on (located on my web site) I only earn $1. Why is this? Are there any ways to earn a higher CPC?

That's the beauty of monopolies. Google needs more competition so that'd raise their payouts.

Yes Google is the second Microsoft unfortunately. Ther is almost no competition. Yahoo, way behind, MSN and the rest even farther.

They, think they should have made $8.00

Poor guys they have to share that with you.. They will try to not share any more..

there are many reasons why you will not see anywhere near the top rate. it starts with your website quality and the leads it generates, who and where from is the person who clicked on the ad (why should they charge $8 to the advertiser when the ad was clicked from some poor country?), nothing says the ad clicked was the top bid one - it could have been one of the lower bids that got clicked on etc etc etc.
