Scott. Our deal is almost completed and you got your payment so help me out of the predicament I’m in with this deal. The least you could do is just see to it I’m up and running before you take off.
I am trying to take over the Hosting account for the website and the hosting company has no knowledge of this. Further more, I didn’t get ant information to login to the hosting control panel and I have sent several emails via PM and Email requesting this info.
This is my second deal on this forum and they have both been incomplete and unprofessional. I can see most sellers want to get paid the same day and leave the buyers out in the cold.Hello Damian,
I know nothing about this domain being transferred to anyone else. Therefore, I can't give you any login information.
Thanks,
Nick

Maybe posting to this forum would encourage a speedy reply.
Damie, a lot of times a person has a reseller account with a webhost in which case they control a number of accounts and their webhost has absolutely nothing to do with them. That could explain why the webhost knew nothing about the domain.
Then why would he give me the direct name and website of the Hosting company?. and a link to their spoort forum?Originally Posted by Jonathan

And no login info? That is bad.Originally Posted by damie
He should have introduced you to the host and ensured that the handover was okay - he hasn't been here for a few days but hopefully he will login soon and address the issue, or maybe you can email him. Sorry that you've had two bad experiences.
This is my second deal in this forum and already i have a bad taste in my mouth. I'm a good buyer all i ask is for seller to just follow up with their buyers and see to it that everything goes smoothly and all transferred are made.
In both instances all the provided was login info, which is very insufficient.
So far the domain is not even transferred to me, nor do i have any control for the Hosting of the site i bought a 'WEEK' ago!.
that is bad and very unprofessional...if you have bought it from well you know who, you will be getting six months Hosting
on the other hand I have bad responses from guys who offer to BUY and you stop your sales thread and the guy backs off
or refuses to answer your PM/emails/msn.....well you get the picture
so theres two sides to the story
..well...wish you luck

I was about to sell a site to someone that was going on vacation for a few weeks, and I elected not to do the deal until he returned, specifically because I didn't want something to get half backed before HE left... Moving a site is never as painless as we always think it will be. He'll probably take care of things when he returns.
Well take it as a leason learned.
This is why I always chuck any free Hosting and just use my own servers. Upon payment I expect either a zip with all files including sql dumps or cpanel access to get it myself. I just log in and do a backup to remote server and then begin my work from there.
Are you the site owner via whois? Do you have FTP access? What site was it? What forums software? Some forums software allows for backup via admincp.
If you have FTP you can look at the files for the config info to the database and just remotely login to the sites database. You only need the DB name, DB username and DB password.
I have had some sellers be a little slow lately in getting me the info. Upon sale I think a seller should do everything they can to make it a speedy process.
Damie (and the rest of the folks at DNForum),
eNom finally finished the transfer of the domain name to GoDaddy yesterday (confirmation email has been sent your way). I am not sure why it took them a week from when I accepted the transfer to when it was trasferred to GoDaddy.
As for the vbulletin transfer, that was taken care of and in place the day I left for my business trip, as well as the transfer of the Hosting.
Damie was given access to vBulletin and the hosting of the website before I left town. However, I guess i changed the password to the hosting for him before leaving, but it either did not get relayed to him or it got jumbled in our discussions.
All three transactions were CC'd to Damie to keep him in the loop of all the transfers. It is very difficult to transfer domain, hosting and vbulletin license without keeping someone in the loop, otherwise information does get lost.
Damie, if you get a chance, please post a follow-up in the thread on the transaction.
Thanks Scott, all went well. I must apologize for loosing it previously. You are a very good seller I’m sorry it took me this long to realize. Like I said I have been burnt in the past buy a few unscrupulous sellers (not necessarily on DNF) but in general.
Next time just give the seller some heads up is you will be missing for a few days before the transaction is completed any reasonable buyer shouldn’t have a problem with that.
And I will make sure on the giving 'heads up' when I leave town. Was a last minute trip, but that's no excuse. I'll make sure of it from now on.
