    Thumbs up HUGE forum! Blogring.net

Well, I officially give up trying to manage the site:
    http://www.blogring.net

I purchased this site just 2 weeks ago, and I just can't seem to find a server big enough, and a Hosting company I feel I can trust. This forum is massive, and in the right hands, is ready to explode even more.

It is 3 years old, and has a pr 4

    Currently it has:

    1,606,597 posts
    222,034 registered members
    90,000+ topics

It is ranked in the top 600 forums in the world for post count at big-boards.com.

It has over 48,000 pages indexed at Google and over 60,000 pages that contain the url 'www.blogring.net'

It is currently averaging around 5000 daily uniques, but this is mostly because of server delays:
    http://extremetracking.com/open;unique?login=blogring

The site has all kinds of cool hacks like blogpoints store, auction, arcade, and picture gallery.

It is currently optimised for xanga search terms, but I was building it up for myspace (one of the most pop searches on the net right now) as well.

The site was making a solid $1k/month from adsense alone in it's heyday. Actually the old owner claimed it was making $2k including regular bannerads, which I guess could be true if they paid by impression. I am currently getting about 40,000 impressions a day the way it sits, so you do the math.

I am only selling this because I just dont know enough about mysql, servers, scripting and all that other stuff that this site apparently needs attention to. It would be perfect for someone who is server skilled.

I have the server paid for the rest of the month so you will have time to move it.

I am accepting offers over $9k. Looking for a quick sale. This is a rare opportunity. There are so many possiblities. In the right hands, I am sure you could make it a six-figure site.

It takes forever to come up.

I am definately interested though. How much are you making now from adsense? What kind of server are you using now?

    Re: HUGE forum! Blogring.net

I know...its driving me crazy. It is currently on 2.8 Ghz Pentium 4.
It only made about $30 in the last 10 days. Between the untargetted ads, the downtime, and the banner script not working...I guess thats not too bad lol. I was told I should upgrade to the latest version of IPB, but with all the extras the site already has, it will be a real burden on me.

My other option was to put it on two different servers. The site on one and the database on another. I have a guy looking into it. It's a real shame as know there is a lot of money to be made....

yo, it takes forever to load sites...you will lose all the users(traffics will be down so much), and pontential buyer. If server is this slow, how can you move to new server? Any BIN?

It is only slow it seems when there are over 100 users on at one time.
The traffic is very strong. The last time it was running good it had 20 visitors in less than 2 minutes.

It would not be too hard to set up a second server. I would transfer all the sites files over to the new one, then do whatever coding is needed, then eliminate the site files from the first server, leaving just the db there.

The hardest part, would be upgrading. I think there may be some bad scripting that is helping slow things down. I was told the version of IPB that it is currently using was never meant for extremely large forums. There has been at least 6 newer releases, all with tons of database tweaks, geared towards larger forums.

I have no BIN in mind, but I will not even think about selling it for less than $9k, as I have over that much into it.

FYI if you want to keep the site, i'd be happy to help you find a good dedicated server company, could get you a couple of servers with load balancing and get everything in working order again.

Let me know if you wanna go that route.

Thank you Nathan, that is a generous offer.

I did however have an offer of $10k via pm that I am thinking about.

I will let you know either way. Thanks.

Please send me the screen shots of income and all stats from the previous sale so I can better assess the site and what I'm willing to offer.

I would be interested in that info also.

That was quick. For 10K? Hey, a couple of us were still interested.

Oh well, if it does go through congratulations to both.

If this hasn't sold, I am willing to pay more. Where does the pending deal stand?
