We are currently looking for offers for the following package of websites:

For the techinal reasons listed below, we are only interested in selling these together. Although, we may be persuaded otherwise for the right price.

Important: I want to be as transparent as possible regarding the condition of the sites, their traffic, revenue, etc. After launching these sites, we did not do much more with them. We fully intended to revisit them, but now it is too late as we are liquidating all of our web properties. They've been running on their own for the last 6 years, and the traffic and state of their code reflects that. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to PM me or post them below.


Overview

Launched in 2004, these websites are based on restaurant data provided by chefmoz.org. The data is freely available, provided you follow their publishing guidelines, so this is something the buyer will have to consider. Additionally, chefmoz stopped updating their database in 2007, so the data for some of the restaurants may be incorrect at this time. (As we never created an administration tool, we did not manually update entries ourselves - we relied on fresh data dumps from chefmoz.)

Because the data (including the restaurant reviews) is provided by chefmoz, this means that the content is not necessarily unique. Our value-add to the data was to break it down by food type into the sites listed above and to format it in what we hoped was a user-friendly way.


State of the Code

All 13 websites are driven by a single MySQL database and a small set of PHP scripts that "skin" the site appropriately and filter by restaurant type based on the url being accessed. To the best of our knowledge the PHP functions as it should (ie., generates the sites without errors), but the code is several years old at this point, and if redone, could certainly be done much more efficiently today.

The same goes for the sites graphics and HTML. The graphics and design of the sites were created by us. The sale, however, only includes the graphics on the websites themselves. We are currently trying to track down the PSDs our artist used to create the sites. If we find the files, we'll gladly include them, but don't count on it.

The HTML (as generated by PHP) is as old as the sites themselves. It serves it's purpose, but any web designer today would probably cringe at it's code. While it does use limited CSS, the layout is table-based and very static.


Traffic and Revenue

As I said earlier, very little was ever done to optimize these sites. All of the sites are well indexed by Google - most have between 5 - 10k pages indexed. All of the sites are PageRank 1 with the exception of PizzaJoints.com which is PageRank 3.

Our laziness in site optimization includes traffic reporting. We orginally set up Google Analytics to track traffic in aggregate (since the same PHP generated every site), so we do not have individual traffic numbers but rather for the group as a whole. Over the last 30 days the all of the sites combined see between 35 and 70 visitors a day

The same goes for AdSense. We've only been tracking in aggregate. Last month, all of the sites combined generated $21.93 in revenue. We also have affiliate links to cooking schools from which we see $50 - $100 per year. The buyer would need to create an affiliate account for themselves with QuinnStreet to continue using those links, and of course, need to swap in their own Adsense ID as well.

We will gladly provide any additional data/reports anyone may need regarding these statistics, but again, the number will unfortunately be in aggregate.


Registrar & Hosting

These domains are all registered at GoDaddy. Obviously it would be easiest to push these to another GoDaddy account, but I will work with the buyer as necessary to transfer them. In order to continue running these sites, as is, you will need an Apache webserver (I believe there are some .htaccess rules), PHP and a MySQL server. We can assist in transfer and reconfiguration if necessary.


Price

Please post your offers or PM them to me. We do not currently have a BIN price set, as it is difficult for us to gauge the value of these sites without feedback from potential buyers. We are, however, both realistic and motivated to sell, so all reasonable offers will be entertained.
