I have reluctantly decided to sell my tax accountant directory with a top domain name: W-2s.com.

( Update 4-7-08: Someone asked about an expected price. So, I'm making this an auction with a minimum bid of only $500. The auction ends 24 hours after the last bid. No reserve. )

For those of you who live outside the US, W-2s are a tax form every employee in the US gets every year. The correct way to spell this is with the hyphen between the W and the 2. That's how the IRS spells it.

This site can make good money once it starts getting more traffic. One way would be from adsense as the clicks average around $2.00 each.

I once had an offer of $300 just for the domain itself, but decided to make a directory of accountants and promote it. My idea was get accountants involved, tell them about the directory and their listing in it. There's a rating system set up and I know once people start rating the accountants the site would get more attention from the search engines. I also was going to try to sell the accountants ad space on the site.

Unfortunately I just haven't gotten around to promoting the site at all. so rather than let it go to waste I have decided to sell it.

I paid $800 to have a member here at dnforum set up the site using a script and a database of accountants. I think that was a fair price for the work involved.

The site has over 156,000 listings! Here's a breakdown of the listings:

To rate or review a listing someone would have to get an account at W-2s.com which is free.

There is a easy to manage admin area to manage the reviews and members. You can even send out emails to members.

This site has over 200 pages indexed by Google. This figure can increase dramatically if you spend some time on the site. How do I know this? Because I have a few other sites like this one and just recently sold one that was a tattoo artist directory: www.justtattoo.com . Justtattoo.com sold for a couple thousand mostly because it was getting really good long tail type traffic. Google has 3900 pages indexed on this site.

Basically, just a few good related back links, some additional content and this site should start getting the same kind of longtail search engine traffic.

So, you can imagine what would happen if more pages got indexed by Google. Traffic could explode.

I just started using the blog. Today I added a few posts, digged one of them and stumbled another. I have had this site for over a year and just now made the first blog post. So, this shows I really have neglected the site.

So, here's a good opportunity for someone. This is the first place I am trying to sell the site at.

Last month adsense had 4 clicks that made $8. Here's a look at traffic stats for this year:
