    .au prices

At $aud45.00 for 2 years is there any reason why I should not transfer my .au names to www.domaincentral.com.au ?

    Re: .au prices

I don`t own any .com.au yet because AUDA pisses me off with the restrictions and the fact they donot open the second level yet.
Plus it`s quite expensive to be a third level from a popular country extension.

All I will say is don't just go by price! For example, Netregistry has a $220 service fee to push the name to someone elses account. So be careful.

    Re: .au prices

Netregistry actually let you sell .au domains?

I thought it was illegal to sell and/or transfer .au domains to someone else, except under very narrow criteria (e.g. sale of an entire company, death of the owner, trademark infringement, etc)

There's always circumstances when you would be required to transfer a name, most typically as past of a business.

    Re: .au prices

Do you mean transferring domains internally within a large company?

My comments were based on reading these two documents

    auda.org.au/policies/auda-2005-05
    auda.org.au/policies/auda-2004-03

If anyone here has actually managed to transfer ownership of .au domains to someone else I'd be interested in hearing about it
(privately via email or PM, if you want)

I have transferred a .au before, not with NetRegistry though. I mean pushing the domain to someone elses account with the same domain registrar.

    Re: .au prices

    interesting!

Was the "someone else" able to change the WHOIS data to their name, or does the WHOIS still show you as the admin?

The reason I'm interested is I've got 2 .au domains registered by me for other people (my brother's company, registering the domain before he registered the company name, and there is a domain I registered which I have given to an employee for some open source software she is writing). The domains are still in my name though. I asked about transferring my brother's domain but was told by my registrar that I cannot change the ownership of the names, and they cited the documents I mentioned above.

    Maybe I should change registrar!

Are you able to tell me here (or via PM/email) who the registrar is?
