When .es was not "free", I mean, when you had to have rights -trademarks, etc.- upon the name in order to get it, .com.es had a meaning, because it was completely "free".
From last November, .es is open, so since then, third level .com.es is not really worth it, although it is cheap.

Well it depends on your target audience. But are the Spanish familiar with .com.es ? I doubt it.
I guess it's like .com.fr or .com.pt, the locals do not even know about these subdomains.
