.com could never be replaced as it is branded as the default internet address extension around the world. If you are using another extension other then .com, no matter how much you spend on branding your address with your extension, you will still be loosing visitors if you do not have the .com version.

Having said all that, my personal favourite is .cc . While it does not offer a lot of promise at the moment, I think with the ever decreasing amount of name space out there, it will eventually catch people's attention.

As a traffic collector/seller I dont care about .ext and I register any extension domains which can bring traffic/revenue. So some predicitions about possible traffic/revenue a domain can give are more important for me than just investing in .ext itself.

.com is and will be the best extension for investing although I think .net and .info will also be the best for investing as many .com names are already registered so .net and .info will definitely pick up. For ccTLDs I would say .in would be a good choice as India's economy is growing, good amount of english speaking population and more and more people have access to the internet nowadays in India.

I gotta go with .com as the best for investing. When I give people a URL with anything but .com, they have to write it down. Or I never get their business.

I think it's because the math doesn't factor in the multiple choice option.

.com is a good investment obviously. Also, .cn and .in are also excellent investments considering their 1 billion+ populations each and the number of people using the internet in each of those countries is rising rapidly. I think .cc is one of the worst investments and the more extensions that come out the more it will decrease its value.

I agree with .in but .cn is a question mark because if they get the idn.iTLD, all the .cn registered will be rubbish.

.cc is not a great extension but Verisign did advertise it so well that I got a couple.

commodities.cc is not that bad, is it ?

Sorry about the ridecule, but after so many years in the investment field, I naturally bristle at anyone claiming guaranteed returns, no matter what the extension or vehicle. Toning down "guaranteed" and "300%" to discussion about your own personal experience would be better received, and much more convincing.
Stocdoctor, you took it too serious....Provider talked about a trend and he is right...domain names are getting more and more money not only .ca but its a trend everywere...

.com can be replaced, never say never. It's a big deal now, and alot is the result of investors like us holding onto them so tight. I've fallen for .info recently and I'm stunned at the attention they get with SE and Typin. They kick my .nets butts. My .ca Kick *ss too.

.com will get old, and to be quite franke, bigger things happen all the time which you would never expect. Perhaps all the big SE's will ban together one day and develop a browser with MS that totally eliminates the dot.anything.
My point is simply "Don't hold this stuff too long expecting the world" That day has come and happens to still be here, but for how long.?

I still buy a good dot com when i see one. But you all keep your attention there whilst I (and some others) keep scoring on the other ones

    Agree with Jacksplat.

Sometimes I dont want to step into a .com website...if there is a .org and the subject is shareware...

    I use myself as a gauge...hah !

Personally, as a websurfer I'm not biased towards any extension...although if it fits...the better

Well, I find .com is the most valuable TLD. I think no one can really doubt that. However, here we want to analize potential revenew, lets say registering a domain now and selling it it somewhere in 1 to 5 years.

Definitly you can make money on .coms. I'm also sure ccTLDs like .in and .cn will have great growth. On the other hand I think .cc .ws will never gain great popularity.

Now, the TLD with the greatest growth potential (in my eyes) has not even been mentioned here:
