I thought about backordering a few just for kicks but decided not to bestow credibility on this joke TLD !![]()

Calling it Mobi is odd. I can't see the .mobi ext ever becoming popular with the public. Who ever heard of a mobi before? It would make better sense to say mobile since there is not a huge difference between 4 and 6 characters and likely no technical reason to liimit the length of extensions as they try to do.
^ I would guess they plan a 'mobi' button on mobile phones. Easier to fit 'mobi' onto a button!

People from UK and other nations may not realize the word Mobile is not used much by the public in N America, I believe the most common words in use are Wireless and Cellphone. That could be why a lot of top name new registrations of mobi appear to be from Asia and EU.
I think I got a few![]()
Got two. Looks fine.

JJH.EU - DAA.MOBI - KOA.EU ... Make offer ...
As Verizon said, they don't believe in the ext either but have to buy it up to protect themselves.... I bought a couple for the very same reason.
Plus, I just couldn't help myself when I found and reg'd CellService.mobi
GoPC
(and now, GoPC.mobi)
Yes, they are not on the list and neither is Cingular (a joint venture between AT&T and BellSouth). Interesting.

like a couple of you are saying, the only thing that gives this goofy .mobi domain anymore steam than the .biz's and .name's and .pro's of the world is that its backed by all these big companies, i highly doubt they will just sit back and say "welp, lets see how that damn .mobi whale does by itself..swim mobi swim!"
this definitely doesnt ensure its success, but at the same time it makes it harder for .mobi to be a *complete* flop... at least in the near future.. what long term holds for the whale is anyones guess tho.
