The local market is very limited.
As a vanity extension I doubt it will fly.

sdsinc: agree with your statement regarding the local market but the availability of many key words in that extension, and google's apparent like of same by placing some .im domains right under .com's on some pages, indicates there are possibilities for the future, even if that is long term.

I am liking .im. I have had no problem getting them indexed. But I do think it's going to take awhile for the value to rise.

one possible key to the .im domains success or more acceptance will be when companies /end users realize that .im can not only represent instant messenger but the product or service in the "i am" abstract like toys.im (i am toys) cars.im (i am cars) as just a couple of examples much the way toys are us, spawned many copycats; since there are still plenty of keywords available in this extension, i would buy them and look upon them as long term investments and do at least mini-site development etc.

I'm investing in them too... I think they are currently undervalued. I don't see such good keyword domains being sold for so low in any of the other extensions!

this extension is the biggest waste of time you could find...the point of domains is to have existing traffic for e-commerce related businesses, not vanity extensions for an esoteric group of domainers

nothing personal, diamonds is always a great name...it's just a matter of fact that the Isle of Man does not have much of a population or e-commerce development potential to tap into
