NEW.NET Domains ?

what about new.net domains ?
.xxx
.mp3

and so on...
do you think i can resell them easily if they are good domains ?
(like for example download.mp3)

Although noone has seemed to reply here....
I think you need to go with your gut.
With over 350 TLD's in th world and growing ....
My gut tells me that www.download.mp3 is a good one.

It is virtually impossible to sell any new.net domain. You would not be buying download.mp3. You would be buying download.mp3.new.net. When you look at what you would really be buying, a 4th level domain, you can see why there is no market for it. The only way to see the site if someone types in just download.mp3 if if they download a special plugin for their browser. Most of the world can not even see new.net names unless they enter the full clunky address.

Highly speculative even by domainer standards Yes. Completely worthless I would say no. There has been over the years the odd sale in the $xxx range and at least one dispute under New.net's "Model Domain Name
Dispute Resolution Policy". The domain was sex.shop (sex.shop.new.net). I mention this because someone (the complainant) felt this new.net domain was worth the trouble and expense of filing a dispute.

New.net domains work in short form if the browser is enabled with the new.net plug in or if the user is using a partner ISP. The plug in has a fair amount of distribution since it was distributed along with popular "free software"

Personally what I find interesting is the new.net .travel and .xxx extensions. Why because if a computer has the new.net plug in installed the new.net version will resolve over the version in the DNS the computer is using, and that has profound implications for the .travel and .xxx ICANN TLDs, given the number of computers with the new.net plug in, if and when they are approved. As for how I tested this it is on my site:

Basically I set the DNS to resolve using the new root ( an alternate root that also has a different .travel TLD) and then installed the new.net plugin. The new.net version won out.
