Very easy to register and easy to change DNS. www.hkdnr.hk - I hear transfer fees a still a bit high though. 7 million in Hong Kong but I guess many more outsiders looking to trade.

The Soft Launch period will be divided into 3 phases, where several categories of registrants will have priority in registration. Please see below different phases of the Soft Launch period:

Name of Period Details Period
Priority-Registration Hong Kong Trademark / Service Mark holders registered via Intellectual Property Department of HKSAR Government on or before 14 September 2006 would be entitled to register during the period. The Trademark / Service Mark must contain Chinese characters and the Chinese Domain Name applied must comprise of or include all Chinese Characters of the Trademark / Service Mark.

When there are more than one applications of the same .hk Chinese Domain Name, priority will be given to applicants holding an .hk English domain name with an earliest commencement date would win.

Preliminary allocation results of Priority Registration would be available for search on this website from 23 November 2006 to 3 December 2006. Confirmation of Allocation for Priority Registration would be on 30 November 2006 after the objection period. Successful applicants could make payment on or after 30 November 2006. Sept 28 12:00pm – Nov 10 17:30pm, 2006
Pre-registration Existing '.hk' English Domain Name holder with a commencement date on or before 14th September 2006 would be entitled to register during this period.

If there are more than 1 applications of the same .hk Chinese Domain Name, a similarity test will be conducted. This is to guarantee that, before further consideration is given, the Chinese Domain Name applied for is similar to their corresponding existing English Domain Name. If more than 1 applications pass the similarity test, the applicant’s sector type and .hk EDN commencement date will determine. If commencement date is the same, random draw will be conducted.

Preliminary allocation results of Pre-Registration would be available for search on this website from 18 January 2007 to 28 January 2007. Confirmation of Allocation for Priority Registration would be on 25 January 2007 after the objection period. Successful applicants could make payment on or after 25 January 2007. Dec 4 12:00pm, 2006 – Jan 5 17:30pm, 2007
Sunrise Registration is open to public. All applications will be processed in one lot after the registration period.

If there are more than one applications of the same domain name, allocation will be conducted by random draw.
