It is still in landrush, you can't just "buy" one until July 17th

You do realize there is practically no names to choose from because the .me registry have reserved all premium domains for themselves. Here is what they have reserved:

I submitted a handful of names and hope to get at least a couple. However, there are some big players to compete against and I'm only willing to let go several hundred dollars for a couple. If no take for me, I'll dump those dollars into .com.

Given the current .me entry price point and the recent ICANN announcement, I'm just not going to do it, wouldn't be prudent.

I think it is a stupid extention and a waste of money. imo of course.
