Exclamation Sedo sucks !!!!!!!!!!!!! Will never use again

How can sedo auction off domains without verifying that the seller in fact owns the domain ?

    sedo is a crack-pot service

I amazed at how they run their "business"

Never again will I waste my time looking at Sedo domains

I am a bit confused here aswell. Hopefully someone can answer my questions.

I have seen people being worried about hijacked domains on sedo, or making errors in the sales section of sedo and selling their domain for something they didnt want.
Isnt Sedo just a parking site? The domain is in control of your registrar like Namecheap or GoDaddy, so how does Sedo actually control your domain??

And also, The personal info you provide at Sedo registration. Can people get access to it?

i made an offer for a domain on sedo

    seller kicked it into auction

i was the top bidder 7 days later

    i paid

    i waited

turns out, seller didnt own the domain

sedo reversed the charges on my cc

however, i wasted my time --- searching thru their domains, staying up until 3 am to bid on the auction, wasted emails , tied up money

i mean geeez - sedo clearly runs an inefficient operation

in my book , they are a waste

    uhhhhhhhh

How is it NOT sedos fault ?

They alone are responsible for the integrity or lack thereof of their selling platform

Without any integrity , its just a bs site

I know when i want a domain name at buydomains.com - they have verified ownership of the domain - and i take the time to search thru their domains because i know the MERCHANDISE IS REAL (something that is kinda important dont'cha think ?)

sedo could VERIFY that the owner in fact matches the whois, and require updates on a regular basis

They simply choose not to do so

Geeeez, not their fault....then who's is it ? Why would you accept such imperfection ? Its completely unnecessary. And furthermore, makes Sedo look like a Mickey Mouse operation

    Not their fault

    come now biff

i think if the offer reasonable the domain owner will sell the domain, but if you affered lowbal offer so its no doubt what domain owner will shoose to be banned than to give domain for sheaper than domain price.

    I had the same experience.
    I had a transaction on sedo.com.
After payment sent, sedo told me the name was not in the hand of the seller.
    And Sedo cancelled the transaction.

Although sedo indeed isn't optimal at all times you can't blame sedo in this case. You need to blame the seller.

Most of the time Sedo suspends the seller account as well.

It is very "easy" for this to happen.
sedo does verify the ownership when you list the domain, but what if you sell the domain outside sedo? They are not actively checking whois information in order to verify ownership.
So, yes, this happens and has happened to me.
I think this could be avoidable, if they have a system running that actively verify domain ownership, say, once every month, but even then, this could happen.

sedo does not always verify ownership. I can show domains listed on sedo right now that are not even allowed to be sold by the registry. I have reported many listings on Sedo that were not valid, not for sale by owner. In some cases I even contacted the owner and they said the domain is not for sale. It does happen. My opinion is that for the amount of money flowing through the Sedo website they should be able to verify every domain, even if that means verifying all domains that have offers.
