Auction Expires Midnight 10/6-10/7 FORUM TIME
wasn't auction over hours ago?

Some people will invariably confuse midnight 10/6 and midnight 10/7. Technically at midnight, it is 10/7, but people get it confused anyway... So, I put both days on either side of midnight in a effort to try to keep people from getting confused. Looks like I did not succeed at that task.Originally posted by adoninet

Forum time is in Eastern time. Look at the time of the posts, and look at the forum time at the bottom of any thread...
"All times are GMT -5 hours. The time now is 11:42 PM."

so according to my screen it's 4:30 am
if you mean EST then just say that
that's the easiest
it appears the forum time is not a constant since my forum time is five hours ahead of EST
must be my profile is set to UTC
is that the problem?
anyway, I gues the easiest thing to do is say a time in either EST or PST
since the forum time thing depends entirely on what time the user has set
Interesting. Yes, it must mean that your profile is set to GMT / UTC.Originally posted by adoninet

Sorry for the confusion, but you do raise a valid point of which I was not aware.

. . .
i just set my options to est
for some reason my profile had the time 5 hours ahead of est
maybe that's the default setting
so I guess if you just say forum time (EST) that might keep others from getting confused
I assumed the forum time was what I saw on the screen
sorry for the confusion
personally I'm used to UTC since I deal with people all over the world
EST works okay within the USA
but I'm always doing stuff with people in Australia, or the UK or where ever now a days
anyway, I'm sure there's many others like me that are viewing the time from the default time which seems to be 5 hours a head of EST
is it 12:01 yet
hehe
glad to see my computer is now in synch with the board
You don't have to try to impress me... We all work globally. :-DOriginally posted by adoninet

BTW - it is now aftermidnight... You win. PM coming.

i wasn't trying to impress you, it's just I had this same discussion today with someone else about how less and less of our business is in the USA
years ago the net was a big USA phenom
now it seems like most of the action is outside the USA
honest, I had the same discussion today with one of my clients, one of the rare ones I see face to face
he's a vietnamese boat person
he was asking me about what percentage of my biz is from our town
I laughed
I said I don't try to get locals, I don't even do much with USA folks now
the net is a global market
anyway, yesterday I had about 4 emails with a fellow down under, we were trying to synch our watches so we could connect on the phone
it's like 14 hours ahead of EST
so when they get up, we're going to bed
anyway, it just seems weird that the past three days I've had way too many conversations about time
first the aussie fellow, then my vietnamese client then this thing
I guess it goes in threes huh
Name pushed. Thanks for the quick payment.

I think the best thing is to post e.g. "Sale closes exactly 3 days from the time of this post" - that way nobody gets confused.
