200,000 churches? That is a LOT of churches. For contrast note that there are only 12,804 McDonalds restaurants in the USA (source: http://www.nationmaster.com/graph/fo...ds-restaurants).

So, 200,000 Independant Baptist churches would mean that there are almost 16 Independant Baptist churches for every ONE mcdonalds in the USA.

This figure seems a bit inflated. Source please?

i could name hundreds of towns that have no mcdonalds or one mcdonalds and there are numerous Independent Baptist Churches.

Mcdonalds is not a good gauge to use.....

also note that there are hundreds of independent baptist colleges also....

a large denomination....

i have no idea what the stats are but this domain has steady traffic.... i developed it into a big directory site and then took it down not too long ago....

Dont mean to jump in your thread but there are a ton of independent baptist churches even in NY, my town and a few towns around me say a 50 mile radius has atleast a hundred of them, and this sure isnt the bible belt

With all due respect, hundreds does not equal 200,000.

There are 3,537,441 square miles in the United States. (source:http://www.enchantedlearning.com/usa/states/area.shtml) 3,537,441 divided by 200,000 = 17.68. That would be one INDEPENDENT baptist church for every 17.68 miles. Seems reasonable, no? However, if you've ever driven or flown across the country you would know that there are THOUSANDS UPON THOUSANDS of undeveloped acres. In fact, less than 5% of the Nations land is developed (source:http://books.google.com/books?id=LCC...oowi22YGhEiSJA) Thus, we're looking at about one Independent Baptist church for every square mile in the USA.

Then take into consideration dense residential areas, industrial areas, commerce centers far from residential congregational members and the numbers fall further still.

And remember, we're not talking about ALL baptist churches, we're talking about Independent Baptists. Wikipedia lists over 50 baptist sub-denominations. Here is another interesting thread reporting about 3,600 Independent Baptist churches in the USA. http://www.baptistboard.com/showthread.php?t=16690 While I'm certain this number is far less than the actual number, it is still less than 2% of the OPs claim.

I think this is a GREAT domain name with excellent potential. However, in my opinion the 200,000 claim is not realistic and should not be cited without a source.

as far as the "citing without a source" i do have a source.... i have been an independent baptist church member all my life..... i know what i am talking about ..... globally there are literally a couple of hundred thousand independent baptist churches...

There is fallacy in your latest logic. Just because I have lived on planet earth all my life would not make valid my claim of the Earth being flat.

You've cited a statistic. Offer some evidence, make the claim broader, or remove the statistic altogether. It seems only honest.

I'll offer $250 for the domain. I would be interested in seeing a source if you can find one. I'm not trying to be rude, I would just like to see the claim substantiated.

There are 194 countries in the world today (with independent baptist churches all over them)

There are roughly 30,000 incorprated cities in the US (i just left a city of 10k people and there were 4 independent baptist churches there)
