M4A.COM For Sale - Hottest thing since MP3!

    NAME SOLD

M4A is the new, popular file extension for MPEG 4 Audio files, which is the internationally approved ISO/MPEG standard designed to replace MP3 audio files. It has better quality and avoids some of the audio defects and limitations that the MP3 standard has.

Already such prominent companies such as Apple (in its Quicktime software, iTunes Software and iPod Music Players), HP, Nero, AOL (via their WinAmp player) and many others are supporting this new MPEG 4 Audio standard. By default, Apple products and WinAmp uses .M4A for all their MPEG 4 Audio files (for unprotected, non-digital rights management files). Nero Burning ROM software recently added support for reading/playing .M4A files.

M4A is literally exploding. It is still in its infancy with plenty of room for growth/maturity! I put up an informational site last week on www.m4a.com and am now getting over 1,100 page views per weekday with people looking fo rinformation about this rather new audio format. Regular visits as recorded by Webalizer stats has been running pretty steady at 600+ unique visitors per day! Even before I put up the site I was getting 300-400 unique visitors per day! Most traffic is currently coming from Google (people search ing for M4A, as we are #1 listed in Google for this term), typos of M4A.COM, and from other search engines like Yahoo.

Anyone with some vision can clearly see that M4A.COM has the potential to be the next MP3.COM in terms of combined type-in popularity and unique "built-in" branding. This domain is truly a once in a lifetime opporunity.

Imagine if you could have bought MP3.COM a year or two before MP3 files became popular? I think it sold recently for a VERY high amount. Check Overture searches for "m4a" and also compare them to mp3, mp3.com and mp4, and you should see how potentially popular M4A.COM can be in a few years once even more programs and hardware devices begin supporting making and playing back m4a/mp4 files. With the adaption of widespread encoding by people for M4A/MP4 files, M4A should soon be "up there" in popularity with MP3, hopefully someday replacing MP3. For more information about M4A and MP4 files and MPEG 4 Audio, check out www.m4a.com.

Offers are currently being considered for M4A.COM via PM, this thread or via E-mail. Domain is at DomainDirect (owned by TuCows) as is prepaid for many years. Fast transfer/take over account possible. I purchased this domain to develop it, but am willing to sell to right buyer. If no good offers are received, then I will hold, continue to develop it and wait for the value to increase.

Note: Apple iTunes encodes all files a user "rips" from Audio CDs by default to the .M4A file extension. WinAmp's built-in encoder/ripper defaults to creating audio MP4 files with the M4A extension also. Apple iPods playback M4A files. Apple iTunes has distributed 30 Million plus MPEG 4 Audio files (file extension .m4p, the DRM, protected version of M4A) prior to the current high exposure Superbowl Pepsi 100 million iTunes song giveaway. HP recently announced it will bundle a copy of Apple iTunes (witch makes .m4a files by default) with every new consumer PC it ships, plus HP will begin selling its own version of the Apple iPod this year.
