Say goodbye to the french subforums, my friends…

    To the moderators:
the french subsection is getting into pieces little by little. This is due to some disrespect from one member who is acting in his own way, only promoting his domains and not being able to share but with negative thinking.
His misbehaviour has made the forum a bit sour and sad these days, and fewer members post because they fear that this member will report to the mods, acting like the child we all met at school, the one who always liked to informed the teachers that you did this and you did that… The last drop that made me angry, is a thread closed after his comment. Is he the police? Is he a Mod? Childish…
The place is not clean as it used to be, though the project to have a french subsection was a great idea. Valuable members don't post anymore. No moderation or so little, even if that might have been possible in French.
The member i'm talking about (i'm sure you all know who he is, and He will recognise himself) may continue to be the only one posting in the subsection, he has to know his behaviour sadly depressed the entire community or at least a big part of it. You are the winner, as it seems… You can open a bottle of champagne, and drink to the victory of misbehaviour versus open-minded talks. In France, we have an expression for these people, their moves are like the snakes: always hiding behind some rules, to be able to spread sh*t on others, from behind. Sad people.

Last thing: i want to say goodbye to my fellow domainers, who have shared their great experience here (whenever they watch the thread…). Great to have been able to listen to you.

    - edit -
Je voudrais ajouter que si des membres interessés veulent mettre en place un ban collectif, je peux transmettre aux modérateurs… Envoyez vos PM!
I'd like to add that whenever anyone want this member be banned, please let me know via PM and i'll send a collective email to the mods…

    Hi Laurent,
Although I've not been yet party of an issue with this person, I'm in favor of a ban. Not much to add to what you wrote. This person is polluting the threads only to promote his names and is showing disrespect to many respectable posters. He's fighting with us all, whereas the main goal of our French-speaking community is to share tips, experiences and ideas.
I hope Laurent you won't leave this section and that we'll still get in touch here or elsewhere. You're doing a great job!
    cheers

Many thanks for the reply, David and Guillaume. And thanks for being truly part of the community.

Sometimes things are not easy to say, but truth is to be told. Moreover, you don't have to be directly involved, as i'm not, but you can not always sit down, watch and shut your mouth while the bad things spread everywhere…

Special Note: i chose to write in plain english so that the Mods can easier understand what's going on in the section. Feel free to write in French though, but then please translate in english if you can (or just ask for a translation).
    Translation:
[J'ai choisi d'écrire en Anglais afin que les Modérateurs puissent lire dans les meilleures conditions ce qui se passe ici. Merci d'écrire en Anglais également, ou bien en Français que nous pourrons traduire ensuite.]

I do check this section from time to time and do what I can.
However, my French is limited to what I can remember after so many years that I don't speak French.

We (mods) rely on members (French) to report bad posts as it happened so we can take action.

    Thanks for the warning!

    Merci beaucoup!

I've also addressed this concern with the member in the thread quoted in the OP. My French is limited to counting to three (un, deux, tois) so I wouldn't be able to translate in here.

Hi Johnn, glad to see you here.

Only thing is, this member always tries to cover himself by reporting other member threads… I did send an email to MediaHound who asked me what to do with this member, relying on my dnforum history as member. I did tell him the guy wasn't a joke, and that his behaviour would make the dnf community dirtier… It looks like i was not heard, and even worse he was able to write dnforum rules in some threads so that he might be an angel… He wrote many threads in big characters, only to shout and promote his own domains and so on…
I know you guys have problems with french language, and who would blame you? MediaHound even asked me if i would accept to be the mod. in the french subsection. I gave him a reply and never had one from him… I do understand you guys ahve work here and there, but action has to be taken now.

    d_n,

I'm not certain of who's being "childish". If someone pointed out that one of my threads broke dnforum rules, I would thank him for helping me understand these guidelines. That's because I always strive to follow the rules and show courtesy and good conduct.

I'm also not certain who is trying to take administrative decisions into his own hands. Trying to strong-arm the dnforum administration into black-balling this or that member... not very becoming.

The claim that I'm promoting my own domains... well, that's a pretty serious accusation at dnforum.

But seriously, several of my recent posts contain several paragraphs on various topics. At this moment, the thread immediately under this one contains several paragraphs about religion today, the genocides of the 20th century, and French politics.

I would suggest that we keep things non-personal, count to ten, and get back to positive, constructive conversation!

Also, please refrain from using profanity in association with personal attacks, even if you do use the "*".

    Thank you.

    Brian

As i said, you always try to convince us that you are the good one… Please don't claim you show courtesy and good conduct…

(Why don't you just try writing without Bold on? Do you think that you will be taken more seriously with Bold?)

I may reply to your other words later, but one question remains unanswered to me:
why are many members a bit angry about your words or behaviour? How comes many of us are tired to read posts or find actions you took so disappointing? So many members against you, your behaviour? You, the One you think is a good fellow member around here? Please answer: do you think that we have misunderstood you? We are many against you, finding that you brought trouble here. Are we such ignorants, as you wanted us to understand in previous threads you have posted?
[Translation: It's useless to teach you, hidden meaning of all of you are ignorants… ]

To the Mods: maybe that's not breaking a rule to post in someone's thread a domain for sale.
[Translation: je voudrais vendre RepublicOfMauritius.com, I'dlike to sell RepublicOfMauritius.com… ]

And you know, it's not only about breaking rules or not, it's about behaviour, being arrogant and so on…

If I may add a few random comments about the demise of the French subforums:

If people could talk a little more about business...

We are in it for the money... right? (sometimes you wonder )

Seems the overall mood of the subforum is critical of people focusing on "domains" as a business even though thats pretty much the reason for being here in the first place...

DomainerMeeting in Paris in a couple of weeks, nobody seems to care, a boycott maybe? (as much as one may dislike some of the companies involved in organizing this; wouldn't it be better for local participants to think positive and profit from the sheer fact that this is happening down the street...)

    Too much animosity, jealousy,...

    What else...?

We moderate the forums and not being the judge to see who is right or wrong.

Let us know if member violated forum rules and we will take action accordingly.

As far as debate and opinion is concerned, you don't have to get into a debate discussion nor you have to answer the post that you don't think is right.

We try to keep the forum clean so everyone can enjoy the visit and either conduct the business or learn/share from/to each others but there is one thing that we don't do:

Day care center - "Mom, his is looking at me!" - "Yeh but she is looking at me too!"

    Thank you all.

I would suggest you get banned from dnforum, a nice place that you fill with negative behaviour, or at least get banned from the french subsection, plain and simple.

As i do understand that you're not here to listen to children crying one after another, i must say that not a lot of valuable members are sharing in the french subsection today. Even if that concern is dealing with some reasons, i suggest that the main reason is this member beahaviour.
If you want to share, and as you say it's one goal, you have to be confident inside the place you want to share. Since it's not the case, that some people want their arguments to be heard at all costs, or destroy other people comments, then you don't feel confident anymore and switch to other nicer places. If this is the way it's going to be moderated, then once again you have won, Brian.
Take it or leave it, but these valuable members fly away dnf subsection since his famous threads…

As you can see, i'm not the only one involved in making dnf a better place…
3 members already shown their agreement, one more by PM.

Maybe he didn't break one particular rule, i'm not even willing to refer to it. But if that and only that will make a difference, i might do just as him, and find something interesting he might have done. Would that paint him more like a troublemaker, then?

If anyone is interested in legitimate discussion, I would invite you to a conversation on the impact of the U.S. election on France-U.S. relations... and which candidate would be best for improving these relations.

I'm not an old member of dnforum but when I decided to suscribe to it, it was to find a professional spirit and of course a market place.
Like other french guys said, I feel like this place is getting days after days like a big Joke, and of course, for my opinion, it's absolutly cause of BrianLuedke who is not understanding the meaning of this place. To much poor discussions, to much troll. It was like quiet funny at the begining, but now it's too much. We are here to speak and exchange conversations about domains.
This last days I can feel that many people are embarrassed by this man and his ego spirit.
There is many forum to speak about spoon and laundry so please Brian respect the olders foundations or move you.
PS : sorry for my english, I don't practice so much this times.

I'm sorry for those of us who don't understand the idea of a polite exchange of ideas, an intellectual marketplace where one must support one's ideas with solid arguments.

For some individuals, it is so much easier to try to muzzle those who have other ideas. It's unfortunate that a few of us have proudly asserted their belonging to this group.

No, this is a sorry group of whiners (as Johnn noted) who want to get me banned because they are too lazy to support their ideas with evidence... either that or they are simply intolerant.

I'm frankly astounded that you should choose to single me out for critique, instead of expressing disapproval of the personal attacks and profanity in the initial post of this thread.
