Most major registrars have auto renewal already.

What does this statement by Buyron mean:

"Furthermore, unless .CA Registrants indicate otherwise, domain names will automatically be renewed on an annual basis; you won’t have to go through the renewals process every year. In the end, we will have a much more efficient, cost-effective registry that responds to the needs of .CA Registrants."

Also, if it's more cost-effective, will we see reduced wholesale rates, or just more funding for travel junkets?

So I got got a bill this week for some of our German domain work: we pay $4.14 CAD for .de domains.

That is well under the best .ca prices - so when will CIRA cut its fees by at least 50%?

"Domains WILL BE automatically renewed"

Will they be automatically renewed even if there is no valid credit card on file with the registrar - or if the registrant no longer desires to renew?

They will automatically be renewed by the registry. Unless the registrar instructs otherwise.
Like in other extensions.

We did not need EPP for auto-renew.
