| Gold Lifetime Member | .ca domain Landrush on MyID.ca Auctions ? I have been mostly offline traveling in africa these last 8 months when the economy tanked and came back a couple of days ago when things seem to be better. At the top of my endless unread emails was the 'huge mystery' note from MyID which naturally piked my curiosity and lead me to the auction site and to their offerings these next 2 weeks. Quite an impressive assortment of domains with many for unbelievable prices (Band.ca for example has a reserve range of $501-$750! ). Here are the numerous ones that really caught my eye: BU.ca SM.ca 69.ca Nue.ca kkk.ca New.ca Her.ca Mz.ca YS.ca Job.ca Teen.ca Takeout.ca Band.ca Theatre.ca Timeshares.ca Newspapers.ca New.ca Mating.ca Diplome.ca Only.ca Payment.ca Biteme.ca Stains.ca Luck.ca Shaun.ca Erotic.ca Gays.ca Strippers.ca Escorte.ca SexGuide.ca Affairs.ca Mike.ca Relationships.ca Tattoo.ca Immigrating.ca Dancer.ca Mask.ca Eating.ca Kissing.ca Snorkeling.ca Iceskating.ca DailySpecials.ca The full list is here: http://auction.myid.ca/?ac=ap This is probably the highest quality of domains to be available simultaneously that I ever came across and I sincerely wish the sellers the best of luck. We need as much good sales to materialize and go public and help take us out of this recession. So here's the question...If you have the funds, and can pick a maximum of 5 domains from whatever is being auctioned (i.e. not just the domains that I listed above), what would you pick and what would you make of them? Develop, hold, or aim for immediate resale? And if you develop, how would you develop the domains you picked? Let's make it interesting and make some serious domaining discussion. |

Country: | The fact that there are people trying to sell these premium names suggests that people are short on money...some of the reserves seem low...but there are still some that seem really HIGH. |

| Gold Lifetime Member | I believe that low reserves does not necessarily indicate shortage of funds. It is well known that a lower reserve stimulates a bidding war and so the end result may end up satisfactory. Last year if I recall correctly, diploma.ca went for more than $17000 when the reserve was, again as I recall so it may not be exact, $4k. But a low reserve may result in a sale that is still low by all standards so it's a riskier approach that one may take. In general, sellers would experiment with various approaches and see what works for them. But to me a low reserve is a great buy opportunity, so if a domain I want has low reserve, I would rejoice rather than complain. Back to the main question here: If you have the funds, and can pick a maximum of 5 domains from whatever is being auctioned (i.e. not just the domains that I listed above), what would you pick and what would you make of them? Develop, hold, or aim for immediate resale? And if you develop, how would you develop the domains you picked? Let's make it interesting and make some serious domaining discussion. |

| Gold Lifetime Member | The reserves are posted here (There are 3 auctions so you need to select the different auction periods to see the full listings): http://auction.myid.ca/?ac=ap I just saw that the first auction starts in 2 hours! |

Country: | I would take Mike for my brother Mike, Teen for a social information site for teens (not adult), and SM 69 and New for investment in short, meaningful domains. I am also partial to Nue because I like french domains and do well with them. I've chosen from your list above, not the full list posted at the site, there may be some other I like there too. I wouldn't read anything into people needing money and that's why they're selling these premiums, there are premium domain auctions all the time for the last few years in all extensions (Sedo, Traffic, Rick Latona, etc) - you have to buy and sell in domaining all the time. I would look at these auctions as a good chance to get a quality domain name, especially if it's in an area you are already investing in.

For me, I'm finding it tough to limit myself to 5 , LOL. There are like 50 I would love to have ![]() OK I'd go with 5 I would love to be able to have and develop: a) Takeout.ca...Online takeout and delivery database with ordering capabilities tailored to all major cities in canada. b) Timeshares.ca: Develop a timeshare portal for canadians. There is so much money in this sector but the question would be what to put on this website that would make it an earner. c) Theatre.ca being an avid theatre and opera lover, I have the passion to invest the time and effort to make a very comprehensive website about all that is theatre and entertainment with tickets and all. I hate those ticketmaster fees. d) Job.ca (The post stated there is no money issue). I'll then compete with Rob and Shaun for the best canadian job site out there. I'll charge $1 less per job posting than they do e) AfricanSafari.ca (Not listed above but is part of today's auction): I just came from Africa and took quite a few safaris in Kenya, Tanzania, and South Africa and I still have the african blues and so have the interest and knowledge to make this a killer travel site. Too many choices and lots of virtual money but very limited time :( | |

Country: | I don't see YS.ca in the auction list @ MyID.ca - do you know if it's still available? I also don't see alot of these names selling @ reserve, as while there are some nice names there, many are average, even below average imo. Let's see what the market decides Personally, I see the .ca name space as being over-inflated (price-wise), as some speculations on pricing as of late that I've seen has been very pie in the sky.

| Gold Lifetime Member | I have the same question and am waiting on PAO list to see what is available there. When does that get published? I wish the auctions ended at a different time. Last year, the timing was better yet I can't seem to recall at what time exactly it used to finish. Was it 1 pm? Does anyone know? |

| Gold Lifetime Member | Where are the non-adult domains? I went to the link here: http://auction.myid.ca/?ac=ap and all I could see is the domains for the adult auction. Where are the others you guys are talking about (job.ca, theatre.ca, africansafari.ca, mike.ca, timeshares.ca,.....)? Can you please provide the link? Thanks |
