Very interesting stats.
Thanks for posting.
One of my 'medical' .ca earned $1.99 (USD)/ click yesterday at DS (3 clicks) and another today.
Go .CA, ... eh!
I am sure .US will pick up with an economic turnaround.

1.419M .us taken
As of August 30th,2008 :

1.442M .us taken
As you can see from over two months...
.ca's have been increasing at a much faster pace.. over 45,000 .ca's registered meanwhile only 23,000 .us registered.
As of October 5th, 2008 :
1.097M .ca taken
1.442 .us taken
Looks like .ca increased in about a month over 20,000 domains. The .us extension remains unchanged.
As of November 3rd, 2008:
1.111 .ca taken
1.441 .us taken
A decline in .us domains but another increase for .ca domains.
As of January 23rd,2009
1.144 .ca's taken
1.435 .us's taken
A decline for .us again.
As of August 23rd, 2009
1.251 .ca's taken
1.626 .us's taken
It appears .us is starting to show an upward trend along with .ca.
As of July 30th, 2010
1.442 .ca's taken
1.736 .us's taken
Well .ca's are slowly approaching .us market
As of December 13th, 2010
1.567 .ca's taken
1.756 .us's taken
Quite the move recently for .ca's!! Over 125,000 domains added. While .us only saw 20,000 gain in the same stretch.
As of January 13th, 2011
1.587 .ca's taken
1.792 ca's taken
I wanted to start looking at the monthly gains again. I was a little surprised as .us's gained 36,000 domains in a one month period where .ca's only gained 20,000.
If you notice from my last reporting period during a 5 month stretch .us only saw a 20,000 gain.
As of February 15,2011
1.612 .ca's taken
1.849 .us's taken

Domain Name Investments
Where's the best place to park a .ca, or does it even matter?
.US is severely handicapped by the overwhelming sense that .com is the american extension.
One of these days though it will take off like a rocketship as the .ca is starting to.
I wish I could buy domains in that space!
.us will definitely pick up...the question is when...
I do believe by 2010 there will be more .ca's registered than .us. Let's hope so anyway.

Stewie based on your success in the football pool...I will pick exactly opposite of what you do and should do well for myself.

No one remind me of the football pool...i can't look anymore.
It does seem like there are lots of fresh reg's on these .ca's ...good to see.
I very commonly get $1+ per click with HOSPITAL.CA and EYE.CA. That was with sedo. I'm looking at testing these out on Parked.com very soon...
Actually, I just checked and yesterday I got $3.76/click with HOSPITAL.CA on Sedo.

I need to try sedo parking... thanks for info

sedo parking does not compare with parked...
As of January 23rd 2009
1.144 .ca's taken
1.435 .us's taken
As you can see a .us decline while the .ca's continue to increase
I've dropped some .us domains but not many. If I find an excellent .us domain I may go for it but that's about it.

For me ND has been the best... Parked does not work very well for my domains and I stopped using sedo a long time ago...
One thing I like about the dot ca is it wasn't ever so heavily speculated which has left it room to grow even among resellers. While certain parts have slowed as a whole there is room to stretch its legs even in a down time for the industry.
Agreed JP. The strength in .ca's comes mostly from end users willing to pay. At least that's what i have noticed.
I have updated the stats above again.
What do you guys make of them?
