Country: | Countdown to 1 Million .ca domains The countdown thread! Now at 953,775 domains on Jan 23, 2pm PST. At 1,000 per day we'd reach 1 million in 47 days. At 500 per day, would take 94 days. Could realistically hit 1 million easily before summer. We can track the rate of registrations from this first post.

Country: | Well, is there a way to know how many domains are "ACTIVE"?? What I mean is, "REGISTERED". 1Mth, would be the "new Registration" count. For all I know, CIRA adjusts this number, when domains get canceled. So it would not be the real count of the true .CA count. Anyways, there seems to be some interest and why not!!!!! |

Country: | Now at 956,435 Based on my last post, that's a net rate of 532 names/day. I assume Cira deducts dropped names on a daily or weekly basis? At this rate it will be about 83 days until 1 million.

DNF$: 3,771 Location: Smallville.ca | In the last two years alot of fluff .ca domains have been registered through domainer speculation. I've personally dropped a small handfull and have noticed other domainers dropping much more due to lack of traffic/revenue and cost of renewals. I also see less speculative registrations of late. the caTLD is very different from the other ccTLD's and TLD's and as many of us experiment we realize the pickings are good, just less to choose from. At this point new events, interest, and products spark good registrations. Gerneric one and two worders may be great to hold onto but don't exactly pay for themselves. That said, I see many domains dropping so this should slow the climb to 1million. Hard to speculate the days it will take to hit 1million.
