Are you positive of this?highest bidder at drop time wins.
I know what you mean the registrar which has the highest bid amount gets the name to auction off, you sure about that because plenty of times in other extensions it is not the case and how exactly a registrar is determined is a mystery to a degree.
namespro works this way for example. And wins as in - if you have the high bid and they grab the name it is rewarded to you without a further auction. They do everything up front with no guarantee all that auction action will result in anything. I should have been more specific.highest bidder at drop time wins![]()

Stupid question…who gets this money, the registrars? When they catch the name prior to sending it to auction, what do they pay, reg fee? Example: How much did the registrar pay for Jelly.ca?
Another thing, is this a good this that the LLL.ca are getting $Xxx or are these just artificially inflated prices due to the auction process?
LLL.ca have been low XXX for awhile now that there is no more left to hand-reg. They have actually come down in price a bit lately, due to the economy i'm sure.
All I have is .CA!!!
The registrars grab the domain as CIRA releases it. They pay reg fee. You pay the full auction price. The diff is their profit.
A registrar is allowed to query the same domain every 5 seconds. Whoever happens to send the query the soonest after CIRA releases it will get the domain. So if you have 20 registrars you can query for the same domain every 1/4 of a second which is a huge advantage over a registrar that can only query every 5 seconds.
At least the limit used to be 5 seconds that may have changed.
Another TBR week
Everyone have their orders in? I didn't find anything amazing this week...
Last week was quality but I missed everything![]()
