But there do seem to be quite a few island folks in the domain biz....

The TBR's seem to get thinner and thinner on quality compared to a year ago, or even over the last winter. Last few TBRs have been pretty weak, at least for names that are obviously good - I don't check for names with existing traffic.
I'll still keep checking the lists but from here on in I can't imagine quality will improve much.
Though it still seems like good .com .net and .org domains drop, judging by what you see at Snapnames and such.

I am often surprised at the prices fetched by certain names at the TBR auctions, given that the end user market is limited.

Kate,
Give us an example of something that you thought was expensive in TBR?
For example eee closing in at 2.5K was surprising. While I'm happy to see a premium LLL fetch good money it makes an expensive purchase from a reseller point of view. I guess it's the same auction frenzy that is witnessed at snap. Domainers pay end user prices for domains, which leaves little margin for eventual resale.
Other examples in this very thread.
I'm actually surprised at some of the names that people backorder, cause I would not pick them for reg fee but maybe it's just me.
OK now I keep my mouth shut or I am going to make enemies lol![]()

So I am getting back into the tbr a little and I seem to forget how it works... I see that I had the high bid on a name that I want through namespro, when do I know if they got it?
Sibername publishes the results usually around 5pm, you can check there. I've never backordered through namespro but I'm sure they send out a confirmation email.

On Namespro.ca you will get an email ... saying Now Registered...it will be sooner than most other registrars results come in... usually around 4-4:15pm est or sooner.

hi guys, i want to know how much could be value COUNTRY + .ca ?
Depends what country but Canada would be best. besides Canada and maybe a few others ...I personally don't care for them. I would rather have a Canadian City.
Now if you were talking .coms thats a different story.![]()

Canadian city .ca names are reserved for the respective city, I do believe...
A country .ca name would possibly have some value, depending on the country, obviously, but I think Canada . ca is taken ;-)
Was mentioned in another thread.
West.ca cannot be registered. Would hate to see someone overpay.
"Search for domain west.ca failed.
01043 The domain name provided is on a list of restricted domain names that are not available for registration. Contact CIRA for more information."
all canadian city names were reserved for municiple use, so you can't register toronto.ca etc as they are either in use or being held for their respected communities.
As for country + .ca if its a travel destination could be useful but just a random country+.ca won't fetch much atm
