What do you do when you see your domain name in an advertisement?

So I am looking in the Yellow Pages and there is an ad for a company with a web site, but the URL is for a domain we have held for over five years now.

How can people spend money on advertising and not pay attention to things like that?

What do you do? You keep your mouth shut.

LOL. Or you could be nice and call them.

    Either one.

Ummm, sell it to them? They have probably already spent thousands on the ad, so you have them in a great position. And if the domain makes sense for them (I'm assuming it does, LOL), then it works out good for them in the end as well.

    Hi

    the same happened to me

i caught a domain on namejet a couple of years ago

    it was a "cityfleamarket.com" domain

after a couple of weeks of owning it, i saw an ad in the sunday paper for chicago flea market

the url in the ad, was the same as my domain

now the only glitch to this story was...

a few months later, the Hosting company started sending me invoices

i ignored them at first, but they keep coming

so i called them and left a message

and haven't received an invoice since

BTW: i did get traffic from that ad

I had a similar thing happen as well... except the company accidentally dropped the domain and they were trying to get the domain back.

a real estate company used my 'city'homes.ca domain in a yearly recreation guide by accident (they own the .com version).
got some traffic from it, but it wasn't a big city.
