Hi all,

I'm starting up a regular Brisbane domainer's drinks night. Looking at having the first event in Mid June.

EDIT, UPDATE 2: First meet-up date Wednesday 25th June at Jade Buddha 6-10pm! See post below for all the details.

I had a great time recently at the Melbourne "Pints and Parking" hosted by NameDrive. In my case, I hopped on a plane from Brisbane to Melbourne.

Thanks to great suggestions from David (Synaptic) and others I've decided to go ahead and do the same for Brisbane domainers.

Still working on dates/venues/details etc, but Simon from NameDrive and Jen from Fabulous have expressed interest in getting behind it so I'll post more as I know it.. updates during the week.

I encourage anyone in Brisbane around Mid June to PM me or email b at farcool dot com if you're interested in coming along or if you have suggestions for a venue etc..

Why come? You could stay at home but I have NEVER been so busy since I went to the Melbourne event - personal thanks there to Joe (I Sold Grandma). Meet people for new projects, rev share offers, I now know who to ask for advice on similar build-outs for some domains - meet people who've already done things you are thinking of doing - you might be suprised to find partners looking for just what you do.

Plus it gets you off the crazy computer for a few hours to rest your George Jetson finger syndrome.

These events are a great way to make and keep in touch with domainer friends and potential business partners inbetween the larger events.

Loved the Melbourne Pints and Parking night and you can bet I'm going to try to make it down for those whenever I can.

For Brisbane domain people reading, I've said it before, it was worth the travel to Melb so it's got'a be worth a quick cab into ye-ol'e Brisbane town.

The Melbourne group and domainers from everywhere will be welcome to the Brisbane events of course, goes without saying but must put that out there.

Jsut started QLDDN.com (great idea Joe and pointed a link back here and to the Brisbane Domainers Facebook group to help make more people in Brisbane aware.

thanks for your interest.

Simple social gathering events are brilliant for people at any stage in their experience with domains.

If I could get to every Melbourne one, run by David (Synapse) I would.. So, Brisbane it is since I'm nearer there.

Fully encourage you or anyone in or around Brisbane to come along.

The Melbourne group is having their next social night on 5th June, so I think it's time to make a date for the Brisbane domainers for 3 weeks after (they're probably having one every 6 weeks, so it'd be good to get in the middle - especially since Fabulous and NameDrive may be able to be at and/or host at each or either event:

How does Thursday 26th June sit with you?

Still haven't chosen a venue - *there are so many* these days.. any suggestions anyone?

Where? At Jade Buddha in Brisbane city, Australia.

Brisbane domain people will not know why, or how, but they will automatically arrive around 6pm and hang out until around 10pm to bang on about domain names and also get some real-time face-time with Mike, Jen and Andrew from Fabulous.com

Look forward to meeting those who come along.

Please let others know - RSVP if possible to b@farcool.com or if contacted by Mike/Jen at Fabulous let them know if you prefer - but if you can't RSVP, don't worry, just show up - there's no charge or admittance, it's just about getting to know each other and getting a regular meeting (4 - 6 times a year) in a simple, social environment.. network, make friends and contacts who are doing what you are.. learn from real people and companies in your home town, or be approachable and assist those newer to the industry get a running start.

So, that's the time and place set in stone again the rest, as they say is up to us guys and gals - hope to see you there!
