I'm all for anything we can do to promote green conservation and the use of less fossil fuels for energy.

Mee too!![]()
Why not start the GreenDomainersGroup in this thread to encourage and promote the postings of any news or laws pertaining to the green movement?
This would include the posting of any new green, eco, alternative energy, co2, globalwarming, and/or climate change domain sales and prices.
It could also include any new domain registrations pertaining to the same.
I'll start it off by posting this domain sale I noticed on sedo this morning...
It seems a little cheap to me....even with the hyphen.

if you build the green sites they will come!
and the green birds "twitter" too!
Hi
Please note this is discussion forum, so let's not post any domains for sale here.
Thanks

Hi
i just don't think the focus should be on promoting our domains for sale or posting other domains for sale here that we don't own.
discussions about previous sales are ok, as it's done in other discussion sections of the forum.
if you want to talk about green related domains that you own, that's fine but keep the promo's to a minimum please.
Thanks
BTW:
here's an article about Wal-Marts new green ratings plan that they want suppliers to conform with.

Thank you Biggie, I appreciate your clarification. Thanks also for the Wal-Mart story. I'm glad to see a retailing giant such as them getting involved in the green movement. I expect we will be seeing many more before long.
For those who can't read the whole story because they don't have a WSJ subscription here is the online version http://online.wsj.com/article/SB124766892562645475.html
Biggie, I will assume its ok to repost the name of the domain that was edited out of my previous post.....it was Green-Cars.com and it sold for 1000 eur on sedo. I thought it sold a little cheap....even with the hyphen.
Love it! I've bought a nice selection -- 50 or so -- "green" domains around technology advances that are up and coming. A "long play" as it were.
A few recent technologies that I've been following for their green factor (I'm a total tech nerd, and follow science and tech just for the fun of it as much as to look for opportunities):
* graphene for energy storage and lower energy use, less heat generated by micro (actually would be nano) chips. This one is interesting, but a long way from replacing silicon for chips, if ever. But it's cool science!
* smart grid for a more efficient infrastructure that wastes less energy in both the delivery and consumption ends of the delivery of electricity. There are tons of cool possibilities for smart grid, but it's going to take a lot of money and some success stories from early-adopting cities like Miami. There's a lot of stimulus bill money attached to ramping up the smart grid, too, but not much action there yet.
* wave energy/blue energy, which is energy produced by tidal movements of the oceans. Really cool research going on here, but no one has been able to really tough out the punishment that storm waves deliver to electronics, and corrosive minerals that sea water produces. Still, this one has been fun to watch.
How are the rest of you involved in green domaining? Do you like any particular generic words to go with your technology key words?
Best of luck to all, and cool idea for a domain group!![]()
i am pondering my design decisions and will im y'all when the site/group happens.
I think as a domaining group it will be good but we can keep anything the admins might want off site, offsite.
regards,
MW
Yay! Green! I'll join in!
I haven't bought a "regular" light bulb in years - I only buy the fluorescent ones now (and there is a small change in our electric bill) - too bad the ones for our ceiling fans are $8 each (and each fan takes 5 bulbs).

Sounds like my kind of group.
I got interested in fuelcell and hydrogen (H2) names in 1999 and began registering them. More recently I've acquired many co2, eco, emissions, ghg (greenhousegas), globalwarming, green, kw (kilowatts), solar, and wind names.
I've sold a few of the latter names but I've actually done much better with the fuelcell names I acquired early on.
Sales have been slow with most all of my names for the past year but I hope to see them pick up when the economy gets better.
How are some of you other 'green domainers' doing with sales?
i am looking at killer rice hybrids and robot farming names
