DNF$: 100 Location: Dallas | I believe I could be pursuaded to make the 3 hour trip to Austin if enough people are interested. I really like the Ramada there on Commerce street, would be more than willing to call and make sure we can get a small block of rooms or something, plus its within walking distance to 6th street for night entertainment. Lets get something going if everyone else is interested. |

DNF$: 414 | I could be persuaded to make the 3 our trip from Houston to Austin every one in a while too... but something like a monthly get together in Houston would be great.
So who's going to make the call?
I operate a web site from which I receive fan mail almost every day... I know that if I met any of these 'fans' in real life, they would be greatly disapointed in me. That's probably my greatest hesitation for this...
Let's pick a spot North or NorthWest of downtown Houston. Breakfast or lunch works best for me. It would be an introductory meeting... we can introduce ourselves and explain our business models, and maybe talk about future ideas to see if anyone wants to team up to conquer the World!

DNF$: 100 Location: Dallas | Dataguy, I like your enthusiasm, but it would be very hard for me to take off to houston, as well as alot of the Dallas area guys, there are several guys in Austin, it would make a great central location in Texas for a get together. Any interest in trying to make an Austin meetup happen guys? |

DNF$: 414 | oemedia, I understand... I was suggesting that we start off with local meetings before we commit to traveling a few hours. I think that this is more likely to get off the ground if we start locally.
There are also some TX domainers that hang out at WebmasterWorld.. someone could post a notification there..

DNF$: 100 Location: Dallas | ok Dataguy I understand what you are saying here.
Well I am more than willing to work up a meeting with anyone in or near the DFW area. Anywhere you guys want to meet would be fine. I know there are quite a few Dallas and DFW metro people here. Scott Day is from close to us, I could probably talk him into trying to come, I am supposed to have lunch with him sometime in the next couple weeks.
Let me know |

Country: | sounds like a great idea. I'm in Austin myself. Would be great to have a round-table discussion over some lone stars and margeritas
the other neat thing about Austin is that its also home to Modern Domainer magazine
If enough people are serious we could even try to facilitate this into some type of sponsored event. I've been thinking of getting in touch with them anyway so I'd be happy to take the lead in contacting them.
I think having the local monthly meetups is still a great idea since i doubt everyone would care to drive out to Austin 12 times a year. So lets do that and then we can organize a semi-annual Texan Domainers event here in Austin! I'm willing to do a lot of the legwork. What do y'all say?

DNF$: 100 Location: Dallas | im in for it HomerJ, you want to preplan an event in Austin for July? That would give all domainers in Texas time to make plans to attend in my opinion. Lets hear what everyone has to say about it. |

DNF$: 414 | I will likely go to the 2008 Texas Domainers And Developers Convention, but that's in October.
Anyone want to meet in Houston sometime during the month of July?
rgremill, I'd be fine with meeting in Kemah, for that matter.
Let's do it. Let's meet in Houston. (I know as soon as I post specifics no one will respond and I will be all alone!)
My schedule is very flexible, but I'll post my suggestions to get the ball rolling.
I propose meeting in Houston, Wednesday July 9th for 11:30 lunch at Fuddruckers at 290 North of Pinemont.
For an agenda, I propose that we each come prepared to introduce ourselves and our web businesses, this could take a few hours by itself.
We can also bring our domain lists if wanted.
Anyone who wants to can bring their laptop(s) so we can peruse the web during the discussion. I'll bring my portable WiFi router.
I hope that by the end of the discussion might have some ideas of not only how we can improve our businesses on our own, but also how we can possibly help each other.
I count 8 people in this thread from Houston, please let me know what you think....
