you need to have one asian contact, but your registrar can provide that. many registrars do that for free.

Which registrars provide this for free? I thought Rebel.com did but someone quoted them saying you need an asian contact. I'd really like to know a place that will provide me with one.

.ASIA is not a scam, please read the RULES before registering the .ASIA Domains. And as a matter of fact, as of 22nd April 2008, All one word, common words are registered already. In next few months you'll see how much .ASIA domains will fetch in domain auctions.

I got one GEM, its WISP.asia

2008.04.14 -- .Asia Go-Live Opens with over 10,000 New Domains Registered Each Day Chinese and Indians Among Top Registrants of .Asia Domains

One word keywords that are really common to Asia, you could count on one hand.

Mind you, I have no sympathy with those that feel they have been scammed. They should have looked both ways before jumping in front of a tram.

I am fairly confident these will prove a mistake, but nobody will really know until about 3 years from now.

How many successful extension have you seen to date that are not ccTLDs?

thats right as you say "NOBODY DOES KNOW"

and its not ccTLD as far as i am concerned. I have been offered $x,xxx already for domains.

I have seen not one decent argument for .asia failure ( oops, yes one on v7n by the admin ) - I pissed myself when john ( admin here ) starts a thread on if the pros and cons of .asia and then everyone piles in with negatives. when john says " he was only asking as people were aksing him for money to buy the .asia" ( quote from memory ), the thread is killed as nobody wants to repond then from embassment.

tons of authority newspapers and sites are reporting china and asia generally is outstripping the us ( thank F&^ ) in internet takeup and usage. ( thats fact, not opinion ). of course .com is bigger and better as its historical but other extensions inc .asia will be big soon

Well, the first thing I would say is that just because domains go for money, it doesn't mean they have any intrinsic value. It is just the opinion of the buyer at the time. Would anyone serious give $200K for Flowers.mobi now or ever?

The second thing is that dot is not actually the ccTLD of the USA. It is actually an extension with a hell of lot of traction throughout Asia, and it will no doubt still be king of the hill even when the US economy is a quarter of the size of China's.

From what I can establish, nobody from Asia really considers themselves Asian. There is no collective identity. It is a good scam trying to sell it to Westerners who are naively looking to get in on the Asian market.

Dot Asia would have had more of a chance in my opinion if it had adopted IDN from the off. If was selling itself in scripts people identify with their language then it might have stood a chance. They have recognised this weakness and are belatedly going that route, but instead of being inspirational they now just come across as desperate.

The success of any TLD comes down to how much money is spent advertising its domains off-line. I cannot see big bucks being thrown at dot Asia.

Rubber duck, i have read some of your previous posts generally. they are ALL negative, all of them, you seem to take pride either putting a negative spin on everything or giving your GOD complex "opinion". Go done the pub and down a few pints or get yourself laid.

i disagree with everying you say: from the little lines like "NOBODY sees themselves as asian" BS to "the success of a TLD comes down to advertising" BS.

i will lets your get the last word as i have not got the stomach or stamina to keep up with your ranting

It OK Robmac. I can understand that you have run out of rational arguments and feel the need to just dismiss everything as BS. That's Cool.

hi to all, just to let all know which feel a bit scammed about dotAsia and submitted names. please check your accounts at your registrars. Most of the names got no bids until now and if they get bids they are very low. By low I mean the real minimum.
Can not tell here which names are at the moment at the minimum or without bid because I would disclouse confidential data.
I can understand your concern about this, each landrush is under a different rule, this makes everything complicated. But please also understand that the rules are available for public since since more then 1 year.
