Its seems pretty good for a niche category of the sort of domains we're not allowed to post here.

I'd like to say yes they're mad, but whoever acquired those obviously has a lot of money, and even if there is just a theoretical chance of .asia becoming a major tld covering the Asian countries, well, then it may be worth the risk to acquire those - after all, sex is sex - it's the hottest keyword there is.

Of course, this does not mean it's worth acquiring lesser domain names in the .asia tld. Look at it this way: Sex.com is was sold for about $14,000,000. BusinessDegrees.com was sold for $26,000. Now, extrapolating that relative value to the .asia TLD, if sex.asia is worth $83,000 then BusinessDegrees.asia is worth no more than $50. That's borderline worth regging if you believe sex.asia is an indicator of the viability of the tld.

Of course, the tld's are not directly comparable due to different markets and languages, but such a comparison can give you a rough idea.

Personally I think dotAsia as well as dotMobi will be diluted into the influx of new tld's in 2009, and domains in those tld's will have little resale value. Of course, if you're planning to develop, that's another story.
