Generic/LL/LLL
Never heard of the ICA. What did they do for " us " ?
Good decision. There are 2 members in here, and one of them has even ignored the last pm I sent him. They have literally done nothing for me, in my point of view.
Wern't they supposed to schedule a meet with Bill Nelson about the Snowe Bill that completely fell apart?

This is me caring what Rick does![]()
I'm buying credit, banking, loan, insurance related generics in .com, .net, .org with high search volumes/traffic. Will consider typos too! - PLEASE PM with name, info, & asking price!

Aside from hiring lobbyists for icann issues, representing and fielding a domainer position when the bigs corps got together to push the snowe bill forward.
Rick has personally funded the ICA for 100k of his own money to get it going along with Franky and a group of other large domainers and registrars.
Just one of the small things we could be thanking him for.
I was saying this awhile back and most people just ignored what I was saying and kept sending them money:

I can smell a new organization coming up, and their tagline is " Made by domainers, for domainers" . lol
Perhaps ICA should rebrand itself to Domain Owners Association or something along these lines. I have always found the Internet Commerce label to be odd. Or is this to present a more palatable image to Washington.
Yeah but since I've been here, I haven't seen much. Like I said, they were getting together a meet w/ Bill Nelson (Florida) to discuss the Snowe bill. A lot of us were game for it but for some reason the communication just stopped on it with no reason if Bill dropped out or ICA dropped out. No communication, no answers, etc..
Wasn't that ICA?

Um is it just me or is Rick just 'another' domain who got lucky...
He seems to think he is the dogs bollocks, and loves to have all the attention on himself. As far as Im concerned who cares... The ICA, rick, what a load of rubbish and a waste of time.
Just my Opinion
Read my blog, use my domain tools (Domain Portfolio Manger, Whois History, Domainer Directory and More) http://GUA.com
Most people in Rick's shoes would have sold out their names a long time ago and regretted it today when domain names have significant value. Nobody would turn down a $50k or whatever offer on a name like iReport.com, but Rick probably did and sold it for $750k. He's smart enough to have kept his original portfolio of names while others sold, and he sells for more than most could ever hope to get for some names - RoomDividers.com for example. He also owns or has equity in several of the best domain names money could buy.
It's usually the people on the bottom who throw stones at those who have been successful. Even Rick's biggest critics (who know and dislike him) wouldn't call him lucky.
Find a Dog Walker
You are 100% correct.
Rick is excellent at selling his domains to endusers at very good prices.
Very few of us have the talent to sell to end users.
Most of us would have sold the domains he sold at a fraction of what he got.
Give the guy credit for putting up his own money to get ICA started.
Not counting the hours and days and months of time and effort to get it off the ground.
I hope one of the people reading this steps up and takes the baton to move our industry to the next level.
Otherwise, the large corporations and the IP lawyers are going to put all of you out of business.
I focus on owning generic domains. I avoid TM type domains like the plague.
Over the past 5.5 yrs, I have received very few C&D letters.
This week I got 2 C&D letters regarding 2 different generic domains.
They don't have merit but that doesn't stop them from trying to take the
domains away from me.
And, these threats have only just begun.
It is going to get a lot worse over the next couple years.
The only united front our industry has is ICA.
