Companies not buying .ME ?

Has anyone seen companies in the US using .ME for their company?

I have noticed even companies like pepsi do not own the .me .

Is there a reason behind this ?

other than for novelty, why should they use .me if they have the .com?

it's one of the issues about releasing more domain extensions.

should companies have to register every new .tld to protect their brand?

Well, i know yahoo and google are on top of things and own in .ME.

The reason i ask is because recently... i have actually seen advertisements here in Canada of companies using .ME.

So, although it's one of those novelty extensions to us domainers...maybe companies feel the same way as well...

What makes .me so special ? Yes, .me is cool but it's little more than some form of domain hack.
It could be that companies are not used to alternate extensions, or they shun them because they don't want to confuse consumers with an extension they are not familiar with.

I see the value in it only as a hack, for cities in Maine, or for someone to reg their name and use as an email address.

I consider Tweet.me, Call.me, and a select few others as very good hacks.
