wonder when Adam sold this one.
i had MatrixReloaded.com and MatrixRevolutions.com when the movies came out and put up a forum on there. Within a few weeks I had some 10k members and hundreds of thousands of post.
The studio never bothered me because... well my guess is that it was all hardcore matrix fans and we were all supporting the movie.
Looking for type-in domains? Page Rank Domains? Link Popularity Domains? Alexa Domains?
Domain Research Tool Finds, Tracks and Acquires domains.
The owner contacted me about developing the site a while back, they can monetize the site as is right now and make some good money what with 'avatars' being a hot subject people search for online to use in blogs/social profiles/forums etc.
I don't know if there would be tm issues of sorts if changed to target Avatar the movie users, but it could be worked around and put to good use. is there affiliate programs that could be used? I suppose that's what I would look at, otherwise it wouldn't be as profitable unless it's sold right out.
Great name either way
In the bottom right corner of this website is a section for people who want to post their links for $$$ a month on dnforum, if you pay attention the 2nd text link directs to avatars.com - wonder if the owner sees an increase in traffic from all the exposure of the movie title.
Avatars.com possibly has a slight increase in traffic due to the movie, but if I were trying to find the movie I would first try Avatar and then AvatarMovie, not go to the plural.
Who knows though, some of my newbie domains still get type in traffic so just about anyone would try anything other than a search engine to find what they're looking for.
I'm sure the text link on DNForum gives Avatars.com more exposure than the movie though...

Crazy name. can sell a lot of great merchandise!
NameNewsletter.com - free lists of available domain names
ZoneFiles.net (beta) - ccTLD and gTLD droplists
In the same sense sex.com gets a traffic increase with every porn flick that comes out.
Avatars.com is better IMO for long term traffic retention and/or development.
AvatarFix.com
AvatarFocus.com
AvatarReviews.com
... all are available today. Still a lot of potential there.
