It's worth paying that little bit extra for the security. Especially if you have ultra premium domains.
If you are new to domains and looking to buy, sell and learn about domains then you have come to the right place. DNForum is the largest domain name community on the internet and continues to grow every day. There are over 105,000 domainers on DNForum doing everything from buying domains, selling domains, learning about domains and discussing domains. Take a minute and Register.

Like a fool, I have all my domains with GoDaddy. Also like a fool, I am paying for privacy on all my domains.
Yesterday someone called godaddy and simply asked for my info and godaddy gave it to them, which obviously sucks. No legal stuff either, just a phone call. It wasnt even for anything serious either, the guy just wanted to advertise on one of my sites, which makes it even more infuriating.
Anyways- I want to move my premium domains off of godaddy to a registrar that will respect my privacy (wont give it out without a subpoena) has competitive pricing and a track record for support. If something happens to my domain, I want to be able to call up and speak to a person, not wait 24 hours through some email ticketing system.
The 2 main ones I am considering are name.com and moniker.
Name.com pros:
has cheaper prices
free privacy
better interface than moniker
name.com cons:
Unsure how they respect privacy
relatively new registrar
moniker pros:
definitive security. They dont want to lose that "weve never lost a domain" title
Established and trusted
Moniker cons:
Horrible UI
More expensive
I know there is also fabulous and netsol, but I dont think they are better than either above.
Thoughts?

I dont really think enom fits in here.
Their support is frequently lousy, from the experience I have had buying domains here and there from existing enom users.
Regardless, I definitely dont view enom as being a premium domain registrar. Much more like a economy one.
lol
that sounds more like something someone told you, than what would come from the mouth of a longtime user.
since enom has been around a lot longer than many of the other newer registrars, they hold more of the better quality domains.
they don't try and upcharge members with "alarmist" newstories to get you to buy "super security" packages, when viable registrars should already have regular security protection in place.
and yes, they are economical...that's what you want in this day and time.
there can be a big difference in what one considers a "premium domain registrar" and a "registrar that holds many premium domains".
imo...

Just curious .. what do you find so bad with Moniker's interface? I don't have a problem with it personally and usually recommend them when asked.
Moniker.
So everyone mentioned moniker for the most part.
I tryed calling them for "support" today, to see how long it would take to answer the phone. This was at 4:40 PST - They didnt answer after 10 minutes of ringing and I hung up. Not exactly awe inspiring, especially if there was a serious issue with my account.
Tryed name.com, they answered after 5th ring.
My apologies no one answered the phone when you called Bostondan. We were in an "all hands on deck" meeting at that time.
If there is a serious issue with your account, I ask that you log into your account and create a help ticket. Support will be on call/working over the weekend.

Their support is always available.
It's impossible to contact anyone who purchased their privacy whois service, unless you physically send certified mail to NSI which gets forwarded to the user.
Virtually EVERY high quality domain is there.
As much as I don't like monster greedy corporations, these guys seem to know their game.

I can't speak comparatively but can say every aspect of my experience with Fabulous has been first rate. Privacy protection is free, reporting is excellent and very flexible, DNS support (free), DDN domain sales program, knowledgeable and responsive staff, outside of US, volume discounts. Extra security options includes challenge/response questions, physical Security Keys and even an Executive Lock.

Your own built registrar would be the best place to do anything you want for your premium domains.
