Is .cc really that bad? I see on ebay commercials.cc, colombia.cc, generics.cc at low price. I thought they're good names, and no one bid for them. Why?

Is there any hope for this extension?

Enom required me to register like 2 yrs at one time which equals $50+.
I got sick of renewing the domains, even though they were good generics.
Plus it annoyed me when the WHOIS query did not work properly in my program.
If you develop a site it might be good, but for resale I'd say may be difficult.
The visibility is not there. You'd be better off with .ws or another extension.

It's just one ccTLD among 200+ others, with no local market so it's nothing more than a vanity extension.

they do ok in the search engines , I had a .cc in a very competetive market and I was #2,3 and 4 on yahoo for most of the needed terms

Good single word .cc sell well from time to time, but I don't think .cc will take off anytime in the future. The examples in the original post could sell for xx or xxx, maybe even low xxxx if the right buyer comes along. I think the term 'vanity url' suits .cc very well, because they are mostly sought by end users or domainers who like the word. I had an enquiry at Afternic just last week on a four letter one word .cc I have that does get a little traffic - will see how it goes. I sold one .cc a few years back for just over $1,000 and the buyer used it for their website - using .CC to stand for 'China Customers'.

It appears that GoDaddy is a bit cheaper on .cc at $19.95.
