    *.cn registrations

    Hi,
does anybody have analysis on .cn registrations. Are they going well?
Does it pays to develop a software to include *.cn registrations in our site?

Appreciate any opinion on the subject,

    Thanks

They are being registerted like hotcakes. Any registrar would be smart to offer them. Just because they suck, doesn't mean people aren't buying them like they're going out of style

I don`t get it why people register them, I know China is big market, but I don`t belive that they will use english words, I would say maybe some one word product names or something like taht could be worth something, but 2 and 3 word names, they are not worth the $24+ ! Thats my opinion, anyway why do people register them? Do they really have so much money and have nothing better to do with it?

i can't beleive i registered 1 .cn i waisted $30,lol I agree with stuff and said that myself about the chinese not typing in english words. Its just like english speaking people are not going to type in foreign language words with any extension let alone .cn Im sure its done very very rarely.

You see, its is not the extension that is the problem. It isn't the market thats the problem. Its not the cost of the registration thats the problem. The problem with the .CN is the people registering them. I see some two word, 12 letter names, those kind of .cn names. Anyone regging long english word names isn't doing their homework.

My own personal rules I make when deciding to reg the domain is: Can I develop it if I can't sell it?
Usually the answer is yes, because I can design my own sites.

Now quit baggin on the .CN! Its my friend.........

To be fair, .cn is nothing like those so-called "countries" which you could buy the whole economy out for a million or less. At least they have a hugh domestic market in China.
Profoundly influenced by #Bauhaus, @Nameslave unrepentantly embraces #Minimalism in his #multimedia portfolio. His early works include an experimental adaptation of Chekhov’s Cherry Orchard inspired at least partly by Robert Fripp. His totally irrelevant M.Ed. dissertation examines Organizational Culture and Change Management.

And I heard from my domain parking service that traffic from china is not accepted, so for me .cn lost again some points and it`s even more worthless :(

Please elaborate, stuff. Why is this so? I know spamming is a big problem re source China, but web surfing? Who is this registrar?

Mole, I don`t know, there are two types: accepted traffic and Rejected traffic, traffic from china will go to rejected. I am not talking about registrar, I am talking about domain parking service!

Then change your domain parking service provider It's clear its one of those services who try to monetise traffic.

.CN are currently bad for natural type-ins. .com.cn is still pretty much high in awareness, and its going to take time for people apart from domainers like us to figure that one out.

But I have no doubt that businesses will get .CN's for strategic posturing. There is more to life than just type-ins you know

Very little homework done regarding what language the Chinese type in,and in which language ALL the domain names are in.

Simply, they use English! Try typing in .com.cn @ Google.
