It's a complicated process to get .co.in or .in domains registered, it's a manual proecssed control by a company called NCST, located in Mumbai, India. I have had them register domains for a few of my clients, possible, but complicated.

I personally think that .in has huge potential looking at the massive growth and potential in inet usage from that continent.
Not so sure about the third level .co.in etc unless of course it is a massive keyword domain which should have some inherrent value.
Your professional opinions would be appreciated especially from domainers from India.

LocaFY.in - The smartest way to find local information in India
I have registered today a series of nice .in names through Domaindiscount24 : easy doing, perfect ! Very impressive to discover that the most generic and best traffic names are already taken, found some very good but in a few hours they were already taken..... sic.
This being said I am wondering about the future value of .in names
Only time will tell Blue. You are able to register them now because not everyone believes in them or even knows about them.
I have registered 1000 generic .in domains, most 50 million up in Google. ".in" looks good to me as an extention and I believe will do well once the public recognise it as a extension on the INternet
thats a lot of names. good luck!Originally Posted by UKPro

Yes, I haven't slept for 2 days - loads are tied up in pre-registrations but they were planning to aucion them but have been told now they're not allowed to so who knows what will happen - Why no generics freestyler? Here's one for you that should sell in the future: typewriter.in - it is still available at this time
Well i know many are available, but i am not interested. i registered those 6 names for other reasons, not to profit from themOriginally Posted by UKPro

That's interesting. Well good luck with your ventures
So what rates are you guys paying for what number of years?
Thanks,
I've boiught 1000 so far at 11 Euro's - unfortunately most of the registrars I tried weren't working and didn't have too much time to look around - you ?
11 Euros for 1 year or 2 or 5? please let me know.
I have not registered even a single .in so far but we do own over 3000 otherwise almost 95% of them are .COMs
Thanks and good luck!
I wanted kamasutra.in but some speculator biscuit got it. As a ccTLD, .IN is particularly good for specific functions that require local relevance/identity, and I'm sure a lot of SME Indian companies won't mind having their own Internet address that is affordable yet nice and sharp since .COM namespace is just too out of reach.
Delhi is really modernizing right now, but you'ld be surprised that most other parts of India including Mumbai (Bollywood) are really dilipitated.
