I guess most people go to the Domainer Mardigras of the party and not for the auctions

To start with there are too many domain auctions. The main issue is selling from domainer to domainer is a lame business model. End users are where the real money is.

An amazing failure. With all the promo that went into the event it's hard to believe how dismal the results were. There are domainers here who got more money for one domain in a day with no promotion expense than the auction did in total after they advertised the event for several months.

    rick latona's was even worse.

2 out of 3 big "showcase" auctions this past few weeks pretty much failed, miserably.

    somethings gotta give.......

Far too many auctions and sales venues with insufficient business to spread around so thin.

Things were light years better when all we had was Rick's TRAFFIC in the past. Too many iimitators jumped on the bandwagon.

rick schwartz' targeted conferences got better and better year after year slowly but surely... after some 15 or so shows, 2004 - 2009.... it was fun and exciting, took the industry places but 2010 and on is a new era with latona now running the show for the next 5 years.

everybody talks about auctions when conferences are concerned... not which product was launched / revealed... not the keynote......... its all biz at the end of the day... and the #1 biz in our industry is the buying/selling of domains

so the big question is... HOW IS BIZ??

    we'll see how it goes..

imo, more an issue of the bottom line total being so low and so few good names selling regardless of the prices .

it's ridiculous to say "names went too low" in general because if you believe that it was low, why didn't you bid?

    duh

gotta put your money where your mouth is...

market sets the value with domains, just like with the actual physical real estate; homes, condos, land, etc, and whatever the domains sold for, is what they are worth at that given time... some worth more than others, granted... this thing called supply and demand plays a roll but when you got 100s or 1000s of professional investors / domainers looking at the lists, all likely potential buyers if there is a good or fair deal --- a domain will either sell or not sell and pricing them right has a lot to do with it, which both sellers and auction houses still have yet to figure out

With the exception of artdealer.com and probably softmusic.com, most of the names went for more than they were worth. The collection was crap and I’m surprised to see vpfp.com and dmox.com were sold for $300 each. I wouldn’t pay more than $100 for such nonsense llll.com's.
