Escrow.com or EscrowDNS.com?

Which is safer, which is faster, which is better for domain transactions?

Thanks,
-Mike C.

Never used escrowdns so far. Have used escrow.com quite a few times and so far no problem.

Escrow.com is going to be a very safe and dependable escrow service. I think you want someone that will be around for the long term in case you need help later.

Moniker Escrow is also very good.

For the domainer EscrowDNS is great. The only problem with it is that many startups and businesses buying domains have not heard of them and ask for escrow.com specifically.

The problem I have with escrow.com is they allow the buyer to change their mind even after the domain has been transferred. IMO it is a terrible service for the seller.

I've never used escrowdns. I have used escrow.com since joining this forum and have not had 1 problem. Recently a buyer wanted to use paypal but I told him we would have to use escrow.com due to price of the domain. I told him he can pay using paypal at escrow but he soon reported back that he was having trouble and asked again if we could just do it thru paypal directly. I told him I could'nt and he soon faded away. Very good chance he was trying to scam me, why else offer low xxxx for a domain but only if you can pay thru paypal.

To me escrowdns is faster, and the operation is geared to domain transactions. Service from the site is responsive, and the owner is a long term member on this forum which give extra confidence.
I'd suggest this, but if the other party insists to use escrow.com which is much more famous, then I'd go for escrow.

As I understand it, EscrowDNS actually takes the domain into their possession (like Sedo escrow & Moniker escrow)...Whereas, escrow.com doesn't.

The difference could be that its hard to see how a scammer could scam a seller with EscrowDNS...

...but, with escrow.com, that doesn't actually take possession of the name, an unscrupulous buyer could receive the domain from the seller, then immediately change the Registrant info back to that of the seller - and claim to escrow.com that the seller never transferred the domain (using the (now) false WHOIS info as 'evidence'), and demand the refund of his money....thus stealing the domain.

The 'take possession' escrow services are therefore safer, imo.

I have never used escrowdns but have used escrow approx 40 times and never had an issue but once and that was just a guy taking his time releasing funds so I stepped in, showed whois history change of ownership and they released funds. Turns out my buyer was just " forgetful " lol

Never had a problem with either service, and I've used both numerous times.

Biggest plus of escrow.com is that they're well-known and trusted by corporate end-users. Biggest advantage of EscrowDNS.com is that they take the actual domain name into possession and are quite fast, with most transactions process in less than 24 hours (though escrow.com only takes about 2-3 days when the buyer is cooperative).

I'd recommend escrow.com for large transactions with major players ($XX,XXX+), EscrowDNS.com for others ($XXX - $XXXX).

Used escrow.com dozens of times, no issues all good so far.
Haven't used escrowdns yet, but I plan to.

can you elaborate on that? How is it possible if escrow already secured the funds from the buyer? Have you had that happen?

Nice, never thought of that.
Do they have a preset process for that? Wonder how exactly such a deal can go through escrow
