Have you noticed?

A lot of people seem to think that if it's not a .com then it's worth reg fee, no matter what it is.

Everyone is going to type in .com unless they know otherwise. That is why most say reg fee unless you develop/promote non-.com domains.

So you're saying that domaining only applies to .com since every other extension has to be a bona fide business in order to be properly appraised?

many of the "non .com's" posted for appraisal aren't worth more than reg fee

and many of the .com's that are posted for appraisal aren't worth reg fee either...

but if you ignore what a "lot of people" say, then it won't matter -

especially when/if you sell the domain for more than the appraised value

imo...

I don't necessarily believe that, I just think they are the most desirable and most valuable.

".com is king" is fine; there's some truth to that; but it's lazy domaining.

Almost everyone has an agenda. If you hear that ".com is king" told to the tune that nothing else matters - that person is probably heavily invested there. And... .com is king, almost all of the time. But, one mustn't rule out alternatives. Country Codes are gaining steam worldwide. Keyword Country Code domains should eventually do well, as compared to three and four word "mixings" in .com.
