Sometimes the difference is 2-3 times. Even the PPC varies a lot. Has anyone observed this?
Here is the story. I recently back ordered a domain which has over 30,000 GSV-exact. I never thought I would get it. To my surprise, I got it without anyone else competing for it. This made me think and did some research to found this interesting info. I can give you the domain name in PM if you want to know.

Prettty reliable from my experience, if you are looking at exact match. Some people think it's inaccurate because they fail to consider that a #1 ranking only gets about 40% of the clicks. Just because the search volume is 3,500 for a keyword doesn't mean you will get that many hits with a #1 spot.
dcristo thanks for your input.
Being google is the source for their own stats, I would consider it quite reliable in terms of searchable data.
