IDN Competition?

How would you compare one word domains in english to one word domains in german, spanish etc? For example... appear.com might be worth mid $x,xxx in english.(guess)... but what about the same word in german? is the competition for domains the same there?

For idns, people go for commercial products and services terms and geos. "Domainer terms" like adjectives, adverbs and verbs are not that popular.

you cannot compare it

germans prefer .de

population:
usa - 300 M
germany 80 M

logically .com's should be worth approx. 4times more

Also need to take into account the amount of money that the country's people have. Also the value of the euro vs. the dollar.

Many German words are not IDNs.

I agree with touchring, most IDNers look for Valuable Keyword and GEO names -- adverbs, adjectives etc are not highly sought after at this time.

In Germany people start to use the IDN-Version of a domain more often than the non-idn version! Hence, the IDN version increases in value compared to the non-idn. In some cases, the IDN is already more valuable than the non-idn.

But then Germany are very open to new domain-concepts, whereas the typical John Doe in the US does not even know that there is an USA ccTLD existing. (Sorry for US-Bashing)

Be it dot de or dot com, idn or ascii, it is still better than .info and .mobi which have virtually no end user market.

Pure domainer plays are extremely prone to recession.
