Ok, let's review the facts:
Snapnames started as a company ran by halvarez. In order to get his customers bidding more, he bidded up the auctions but didn't refund his payments at the time. Then he presented the company to Oversee, and Oversee acquired a company that had inflated auction sales.

Oversee took over, and now he was refunding money as it is no longer even his company, but he had access and made even more money from this type of "refund fraud".

As I see it: the majority of the Snapnames team MUST have been in on the scam. Not just him.

Or maybe he had to keep doing it to keep the numbers relatively steady after Oversee took over? Wouldn't look so good if revenue dropped 70% after it was sold.

I for one did not agree to let some "forensics" firm go looking through my God Damn account and all the names I own/won and questionable names, possible tm's, etc..I think this in itself is a huge problem and breach of privacy. Anyone else have concerns about this matter?

And one more thing. My snapnames account I realized only shows history to March 2008, and I used it since 2006 and I remember halvarez since 2006. So now I am emailing them to send me history back to 2006.

Ok, let's review the facts:

1. The guy halvarez has been bidding on Snapnames since 2005.

2. Other bidders informed Snapnames that there was something specifically wrong with this bidder halvarez, they denied that there is anything wrong, and denied any inside bidders.

3. The guy halvarez was indeed an inside bidder for 5 years, was originally founder, then partial share holder, then VP of engineering. In other words, he knew and probably even hired his entire team.

4. The guy halvarez bought up thousands UPON THOUSANDS of domains every year, and SnapNames claims they didn't notice anything unusual.


Now here is my BIG key points where I can that it is not only halvarez, but probably most of the Snapnames team.

1. All halvarez purchased domains still resolve to Snapnames feed to THIS day. Wouldn't Snapnames realize that this 1 key customer that purchases millions of dollars in domains is not changing DNS on a SINGLE domain?

2. If Snapnames truly investigated his account with all these complaints, wouldn't they see someone bidding from the same IP as their offices? I KNOW for a fact they have these tools to tell where bidder is located since they banned me when I had 2 accounts on same computer.

3. They say he processed refunds. How does a VP of engineering process a few hundred refunds EVERY DAY? You tell me please how that happens without the entire team knowing or being suspicious of something?

4. When did he start processing refunds? When Oversee took over?

This is my conclusion what has happened:

It is sounding like the corruption was endemic and part of their business model. I'd like to see the FBI raid them before they destroy all incriminating evidence pointing to widespread involvement, but its probably too late.

Go to My Account > Registration > Select "All dates".

Mine shows all winning history but of course there is NO bidding history that used to be there.

Here are some steps to take if you were involved (a victim) of any auction involving this person. These are the steps that I will be taking to leave a paper trail easy for all agencies involved.

Be precise and succinct in your report. Make it factual and eliminate any personal opinions and statements. Make it good because you are going to get a lot of mileage out of this one report.

Start with filing a local police report - yes, they will file a report and data is collected.
Contact you credit card company used in paying for these auctions. Send along a copy of the email from the company. They may not act on your behalf but will perhaps act on their own behalf. Enough complaints will prompt them to conduct their own investigation.

* U.S. Secret Service (Financial Crimes Division)
* Federal Trade Commission (online complaint)
* if securities fraud or investment-related SPAM e-mails, Securities and Exchange Commission (online complaint)
* The Internet Crime Complaint Center

You will also want to file a statement with YOUR State Attorney General's Office

How can Snapnames make us believe they didnt know about it?
I have 20 websites and i check my stats day per day, i cant believe Snapnames doesnt check their user actions stats seeking for fraud patterns. All these years many topics were created about this, may emails were sent back and forth and they never replied back.

Halvarez and Snapnames are one inthis fraud case.
This case will change domain world as we know it, history is in the making

ps2: in case you didnt know sedo bought parkingpanel.com a ppc company know for not paying its users.

They potentially will have some protection as a company (oversee.net) because they only recently acquired SN and they surely will deny all knowledge. Who knows, maybe they were totally in the dark. But one thing is for sure the original Snapnames team was not.

There is a very quick way of stopping SnapNames. If we all withdraw our domains from the auctions and not bid. It will be over in 3 days.

Criminal investigation is required here as this validates a lot of federal laws.
