Country: | greg, the scope of the entire operation back in the day was very interesting and sure... you can call it "admirable"the guy had everybody fooled, pocketed millions for himself and whoever else was involved... sold off snapnames for 25 - 35 mil $$ amazing ! >>> It just sucks that the most loyal customers who spent the most $$$ with em got screwed out of all of this deals which we should of had, but didn't because an insider was fighting for those names and where he let some go for whatever reason, we ended up overpaying exponentially. This is, my friends, why I quit domaining in 2005. I had a good run from 2004 which lasted for a lil over a year, but this shit got old fast... Very dirty business. Look at this as an example from one of our auctions back in 2005 Affected Auctions Won By XXXXXXXXXX Auction End Date Domain Name Winning Bid Rebate Amount ......... 6/13/2005 spanking-series.net $550.00 $455.00 6/13/2005 fleshlight-adult-sex-toystore-sextoy-novelty.com $800.00 $739.00 6/26/2005 babestars.com $775.00 $546.00 ...and we never used no scripts, always manually bid up domains, one by one.... to minimums, same for my partners, throughout the years in 10,000s of auctions We've been examining the bidding patterns by halvarez and it wasn't just a script / bot... There was a lot more to it. Also, a lot more went behind the scenes which will be revealed... What we know right now is not even the half of it. All of this really sucks and a huge blow ![]() ![]() ![]() Last edited by mike031; 11-08-2009 at 04:35 PM.. Reason: Automerged Doublepost |

Country: | So since 2005 you've been trying to polish your skills of "mass development" eh Mike? Also, isn't referring to oneself as "we" a form of schizophrenia ?

Country: | Give it a rest, Mike. If what you do is called "development", you need to have your head examined. Thanks for the DomainGang plug; 96,000 Alexa in 5 weeks. Original content. All written by me and another person. Jealous much? Go back to your imaginary success. The halvarez bandwagon left a while ago.

Country: | ...and by the way, the NEW CITY address halvarez used since day one is 10 mins from where I had an actual office in NEW CITY and still have it.... i did investigate further and it was all fake and extremely suspicious since day one, but what else is new, that is what the domain biz is all about = dirty dirty as rick schwartz wrote earlier in his last post..... the effects of what halvarez did and consequences to come for the industry and domain valuations as a whole are too much to comprehend in such a little time this is going to get very UGLY |

Country: | Somewhere in this forum or another domain name forum there is a first post where someone definitively posted Havarez = Snapnames. That person deserves a pat on the back. This is Nelson's out of office email reply that lines up with his voicemail message. Sounds like Oversee waited until Nelson was on vacation before they canned him. Maybe to prevent him from destroying evidence. Nelson could be on a beach in the Bahamas, soaking up the sun, oblivious to all this turmoil. I will be out of the office and unavailable until November 9th. If you have an emergency auction problem contact Jeremy Caines jeremyc(at)snapnames.com For all other problems contact support(at)snapnames.com

Country: | to compare the impact of this event with others in commerce, think insider trading...valuations manipulated to bring in more money into the venture. This is something Oversee is going to have to deal with. The market and valuations were manipulated/inflated to entice a buyer. Oversee would have paid a falsely inflated price for SnapNames. So not only are they starting out with negative equity, the aftermath of this event will be (not could) costly in terms of lost revenue. Whether the final opinion of monies owed is done by either internal or external discovery, the cost will most likely be in the millions. Snap is simply a service that represents or holds very little true assets. Basically, a service that would ultimately have to rely on Oversee's other ventures to bail this Snap mess out of the hole. It is going to be damn difficult to keep this service viable and liquid. If a business's sole income is based on the service it provides, when those services are interrupted by either internal or external means, that service will have to fight for survival. After paying $65 million for Moniker and $25 million for SnapNames, just how deep are the pockets of Oversee dot net? Truly a case of having to rob Peter to pay Paul. |

Country: | For Oversee to let SnapName go bankrupt would be the end of Oversee - would you feel quite so safe registering at Moniker for example if you knew the parent company would just let it as a daughter company fold if it got into trouble? Oversee are fighting not for just the survival of SnapNames but for the whole group of companies. If they (Oversee) are innocent in this matter then they need to find out who did not carry out 'due diligence' for them in agreeing the price and acquiring SnapNames. At this very moment hundreds of domainers are pouring over records in disbelief that any company could be so gullible. A rough guess at the moment is that using the RUST formulae (and I think that is already out the window) the settlement to domainers would be in the $x,xxx, xxx's. This figure is likely to increase as the domaining industry calculates the true losses incurred, it will definately, IMHO, reach easily into the $xx,xxx, xxx's. Would it be worth it Oversee? We shall wait and see. But my guess is it HAS to be worth it to them or they will end up with nothing.

Country: | The more information Oversee can push out to us about this ordeal, the quicker it will die down. If they just trickle or unintentionally leak the information slowly, this bad press PR problem could stretch out for months.
