As I said before, not only he does bid above the initial bid but on a few occasions he has taken the bidding to war level.

However, he generally doesn't bid above the initial bid and has never outbid me.
... At times I have wondered whether HAlaverez is Snapnames way of trying to determine how much I am willing to bid on the name.
Out of the 3 auction houses, I trust Snapnames the most.
They are very good about transparency.

    HAlvarex is a person.
And, he bids higher than $ 60 or $ 75.

Just doing a quick check, her are "some" of the domains he has won at Snapnames.

    itttech.com $28,000.00
    lifeclips.com $1,383.00
    mature-club.com $6,901.00
    nanotorrent.com $1,551.00
    only-maps.com $3,600.00
    searchescorts.com $1,150.00
    tvizle.com $1,650.00
    alphadating.com $1,100.00
    cinemagazine.com $1,660.00
    curlyhair.net $2,200.00
    extrawallpapers.com $1,309.00
    fashionindia.net $3,450.00
    hamvuiclub.com $1,717.00
    hannahmontanna.com $1,675.00
    simsextremos.com $1,154.00
    tinhlathe.com $2,261.00

I'm sure there are hundreds more I could list.

I believe halvarez is SnapNames, regardless of the fact that he/she bids on domains, or even wins auctions. A year ago, I could spot which domains in my drop list would not have competitive bidders, I would obviously delete these names from my account, and pick them up at reg fee once they dropped. However, for a solid 8 months now I cannot do this, as halvarez bids on every single domain that I enter into my SnapNames drop list. I could enter the shittiest name possible up for drops, and there is a 100% chance halvarez will be there. The kicker is however, if I don't enter the name into my SnapNames auction list, you guessed it, it drops with no bids and I pick it up at reg fee. Anyone from SnapNames care to explain this phenomenon?

Who can I report this to, the FTC? Does anyone know where I can file an official complaint about this situation? Would anyone be willing to launch a collective petition, a sort of "call to action" that we can submit to relevant authorities for further investigation?

Just about every domain that drops is immediately grabbed. Unless, it is really, really terrible.

It goes thru the tasting process.

    Ok. I have had enough.
Halvarez, that is of course a real person, is just exploiting a weakness in snapnames backorder system. I will not say what it is because it is very simple and anyone that has used snapnames for more than a couple of months should have discovered.
Halvarez must be laughing with this thread.

Must be the reason why halvarez is always the last to backorder the domain. He is able to choose wether he wants to win the domain, as he is never the first bidder which would win the auction by default.

Exactly. One time I played a trick on him and made him the first bidder.
He contacted snapnames and asked to pull out from the auction!
They asked me if I wanted the domain and I said no. lol

Enough with this idiot. He exploits a Snapnames vulnerability and bids on all auctions that already have a bid.

Yes thinking about it that could well be the case (i.e. that has a bid on it) as there were 3 in this auction, halvarez and another one both on $59 myself on $60. The other guy then bid $65 and there is remained until 1 hour before close and halvarez bid to $100 and then overtaken by other one until I bid and won. Many times before halvarez has been there but not bid because there was no activity. Why do Snapnames not ban him/it ?,

I have been in numerous auctions, sometimes alone, with him.
He bid only once, less than $100 so he's not been a danger really.

halvarez only bid after you did. That's the secret. You won't find him interested in domains that are not already backordered & snapped.

He has bid up to 200$ in an auction where there were only two of us, interesting as i had a VERY high max bid set. How on earth did he know? In 95% of other auctions where i havent set such a high max bid or none at all he was not bidding up... I hope that Halvarez != Snapnames.

Right on! I won two auctions where Halvarez bid on them after me, he stayed with the initial matching bid and nothing more, it is good to see him active though

He bid 250 on one I had recently that I was purchasing for a client. I've seen him pass on so many better names so very surprised he would bid that match.

    Great info from Acroplex!

    Cheers

This comes up every once in a while where certain prodigious customers at SnapNames are accused of being actually SnapNames itself. This is not the case. SnapNames has not and will not ever participate in an auction it itself is running as an anonymous bidder. We have never done any shill bidding or granted any auction participant any sort of discount or rebate. The price displayed is the price paid, for everyone, Halvarez included. Please email me direct (kjel-at-snapnames.com) with any questions.
