Its for my son who's currently learning digital animation and just thought having a domain similar to Ma.tt will be cool to put his portfolio in.
Please any good advise or information from veteran domineers??? Thanks

.an is being phased out, because the Netherlands Antilles was dissolved.
There is still activity in the TLD but I'm seeing more drops than new registrations.
In short, it's vanishing so it's not recommended to start developing on it![]()

Thanks Katherine but what happens to current .an owners? Will they be forced to use another extension?
I suppose that .an holders will have to find a new home under .nl.

Aruba already was a seperated country within the Netherlands Kingdom and uses .aw. Curacao will get .cw and Sint-Maarten .sx since they became seperate countries too. Bonaire, Saba and Sint Eustatius will get the new .bq which I find a bit strange because they are now "special municipalities" within the Netherlands so it would make more sensee to use .nl for them it seems. Anyway, you can find this info at Wikipedia over here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/.an

Last night KLM.AN was deleted.
Abnamro was also deleted recently.
