Register Today on DNForum IT'S FREE!I wanted to transfer my domains from GoDaddy.com to Name.com
After I started the tranfer GoDaddy sent me an email saying:
"Express written objection to the transfer from the Transfer Contact. (e.g. - email, fax, paper document or other processes by which the Transfer Contact has expressly and voluntarily objected through opt-in means).
The express written objection may be the result of a pending or recently completed Change of Registered Name Holder. This is an opt-in process during which the new Registered Name Holder agrees not to transfer for 60-days. This domain will be transferrable on 12/21/2009."
I called them up and they told me I changed contact info and now the domain is locked for another 60 days and according to them it's ICANN that dictates this. Is this true?
I actually did change contact info and I pushed from one godaddy account into another godaddy account 5 days ago.
yep, its true. if you change the whois info you're stuck for 60 days. even if you didn't i think pushing it from account to account locks it for 60 days as well.
I have done this many times at different registrars and I was able to transfer out, so I was not sure what's the real deal.
Unless it was recently changed to be a standard, there are a bunch of registrars that don't force you to stay for 60 days after a contact change.
Makes sense. In all this GoDaddy became my worst registrar after 1hostBrazil
I understand your frustration my friend.
FYI: Moniker doesn't do this.

It is GD policy, nothing to do with icann. However, if you transfer a domain to another registrar, then yes it is locked for 60 days per icann mandate. Registrars like to confuse you.
