Trying to make a direct end-user sale... advice?

This is a regionally-specific domain name. No trademarks, all generic. I am looking to sell this name to one of three governments that pertain to that specific area. I feel they would want the name to perhaps set up a tourism landing page. This isn't a Visit(area).com type of domain. It's just (area).com.

My question is, how do I go about marketing it to them? Is it best done by phone? Email? Courier?

I've already put something together that's ready to print and have couriered... but am not sure if that's the best way to go about doing this.

I own most of the major TLDs for the name (.com, .net, .org, .biz, and .ca), so that would probably give me leverage of some sort.

I've been putting off doing this for some time and decided I'd finally go ahead with an approach of some sort this week. Any advice?

Sorry you didn't get any replies before this. I'd like to hear how it turned out. My advise would be one of caution, since trying to sell something to a government body can be difficult depending on the cost and preceived value of the item.

I would do a lot of research first and see if they are currently using a domain for what you propose. Then I would contact them and try to find out as much as possible about what they have and any marketing plans for the future.

You face the same problem of any domain seller when contacting an end user, but it may be even worse for this kind of potential buyer. I think if it were me I would make a site and generate some traffic first. Then once the site is established you could have a better case for them to buy the domain. Good Luck!
