I have received even worse lowballs on this board lately i.e. $25 or $50 for a 50k plus value name and others so I can understand his frustration but the response was far too nasty.

ClothingStore.com I would estimate at 50k-150k value with 1k being insanely low. If you start out so low the negotiation would be unlikely to go much more than possibly 5k imo.

I agree the response was over the top, but maybe he was having a bad day, or it was the one lowball offer of many that put him over the top.

The man is obviously a coarse, lowlife idiot , completely without any semblance of charm, humanity or wit and not even an astute businessman. I am sure that many $1k offers have resulted in $xxx, xxx sales in the past

lol. Sorry I just find it funny that anything on the internet can offend anymore.

Fair enough, when you run a business on the internet, you should sound professional and mature. But this type of language is an accepted way of communicating in many place on the net. Dont mind it. I dont understand how people can get angry over the internet. I am not a keyboard warrior though.

I responded saying I had plenty of money and this was simply an initial offer. His recent email is stunning! (see below)

You fu*ker
first you spam me with a nonsense offer
now you are trolling

You think all domains are like your mother - for sale ?
I do not sell domains you f**king loser !
That's why I am making fun of desperate f**kers like you,
how got shit and are spamming in naive hope they can
get something for 1/100 of its value

NEXT TIME DO YOURSELF A FAVOUR AND DO
NOT SPAM PEOPLE YOU F**KING PIECE OFF
SHIT LOSER !

I get everyday tens of garbage emails from garbage like you
although I do not WANT to sell my domain you cocksucker !
Isn't "cocksucker" an expletive as well? I'd think I'd read it as c**ksucker!

That email is very therapeutic. It may have released some prolonged built up frustrations for the sender. I am guilty of sending the likes of which as well. Nothing to be proud about.

We domainers think too much of ourselves with the registrations of web names. We don't rule the world you know.

I have had buyers lowball me and I went on to sell for premium prices. Sometimes you just need to take the time to educate them or find a common ground.

Sometimes when I get a really lowball offer like that I feel like replying like that, but don't.

totally unprofessional response, I don't care if he offered him $100 or $1,000 dollars still doesn't justify the reply...IMO

But it is his business to run the way he wishes, the way he chooses to conduct himself is his choice, I just don't agree with it. JMO

those offers can lead to bigger sales

Response to the responses

Hello again,

Thanks for all the thoughts guys. The truth is I don't think 1K is a bad starting point or a "low ball" offer for any two word domain. Surprisingly I've picked up some XXX,XXX level domains for around 1K and some for a couple hundred that eventually sold in the XX,XXX range. This said, why in the world would I send an initial offer of 5K for example. Also it is just that... a starting point. I have paid in the XXX,XXX range for domains that I sent an initial offer of $500. No joke!

Price aside above all I did nothing to provoke this guy and was completely professional. His response is completely unprofessional and shows that he has poor character and as someone else suggested he is likely on the uneducated side.

Another thing if he really does not want offers he can note "(Not For Sale)" in the whois area. This clown probably thrives on sending out these type of responses.

Anyway... I wish everyone a happy holiday and all the best!!

Joel
